Thank you very much to all the volunteers, vetters and organisers at today’s Metrogaine event. Thank you for the energy your brought to make the day such as hit. A special shout out to a couple of star performer vollies who put in a ten-and-a-half-hour day, plus some extraordinary vetters who provided valuable feedback on the course and format.
And thanks to all the wonderful participants. We hope you enjoyed your day exploring Brisbane’s Riverside suburbs. And thank you for your patience – we will have the final results posted as soon as they are available.

⚠️ If not, and you still have your registration link, please complete the setup as soon as you can today. We'd like to identify and resolve any technical issues before event day rather than at registration.

Your personal registration link was included in the Final Instructions email sent on Thursday. If you can't find it, please let us know.

While you're at it, please check with your teammates to make sure they've also reached the "Entry Confirmed" screen in the NavGame app.

If you're having trouble getting set up, please send us a message as soon as possible.

📣 Volunteers Wanted for Tomorrow's Rockin' the River Rogaine!

We're looking for two volunteers to help out from 12 noon tomorrow afternoon after a couple of our volunteers became unwell.

If you can spare a few hours, we'd love your help. It's a great way to support the event, catch up with fellow rogainers, and be part of the action.

**Final instructions are out now!**

The final instructions for the **Rockin' the River 3/6 Hour Metrogaine** have been emailed to all participants.

With a new scoring format and the introduction of the **Navgame** app, this event will be a little different from previous metrogaines. Please take the time to read the instructions carefully before event day.

✅ Make sure every member of your team has received and read the instructions.
✅ Download and set up the Navgame app before the event.
✅ Check the setup instructions included in the document.

We love seeing rogaining featured in the media, especially when it's celebrating the achievements of our competitors!

Congratulations to Queenslanders Mitch Nissen (Townsville) and Murray Macpherson (Innisfail), winners of the 2026 Australasian Rogaining Championships hosted by QRA.

In this ABC North Queensland interview, Mitch shares a little about the challenge, strategy and teamwork involved in a 24-hour rogaine, and what it meant to come away with the championship win.

🧭 NO ROADS. NO COURSE. NO GPS. JUST A MAP, A COMPASS AND 24 HOURS.

Imagine being dropped into the bush and told to find as many checkpoints as possible before the clock runs out.

There’s no marked track. No handy sign pointing you in the right direction. Just rugged terrain, a map, a compass and the small matter of staying on course.
Now imagine doing it for 24 hours.

Townsville’s Mitch Nissen and his mate Murray from Innisfail have done exactly that and they’ve come out on top, crowned Australian Rogaining Champions. 🏆

The pair put their endurance, navigation and strategy to the ultimate test, racing through the bush in a battle of brains, legs and no doubt, a fair bit of resilience.

Mitch told Saturday Breakfast host Jess Naunton what it takes to conquer one of Australia’s toughest navigation challenges.

“It’s a real maths puzzle for anyone who likes cracking codes…to get it right you got to have a bit of strategy,” Mr. Nissen

The sport of rogaining is similar to orienteering, with a map and compass, however it has a time limit where competitors are only given their map two hours before the race collecting points.

And after 24 hours in the wilderness, there was one thing he says mattered most:
“Probably the number one thing for me was getting one over the ‘Kiwis’ we don’t often get that chance in this sport, they’re very strong…coming away with that win feels like you’ve won a Bledisloe,” said Mr. Nissen.

Has your team entered for the Rockin' the River Metrogaine on Sunday? Entries close Tuesday night!

We've had a few people out vetting the course and providing feedback. Allan and Melody braved today's warm temperatures and gave the format a big thumbs up. Along with the scenic route choices, they particularly enjoyed the questions and puzzles along the way.
