Springvale Districts Football Netball Club is seeking applications for the Senior Football Coach position for the 2027 season.

We are a proud, community-focused Division 1 club with a strong culture, passionate people and a commitment to continued success. We’re looking for a progressive coach with a strong understanding of local football and the ability to lead, develop and inspire our playing group.

Applications are open to both playing and non-playing coaches who are excited by the opportunity to join a club with great people, strong culture and plenty of ambition.

After leading a nine-year resurgence through the SFNL, Kris Thompson has called time on his coaching career with Springvale Districts. See why he believes the club punched above its weight.

At the end of the season, Kris Thompson will step down as Senior Coach.

Kris Thompson has been more than just a coach to Springvale Districts. Through his leadership, passion and unwavering commitment, he’s helped transform this club into what it is today.

He’s built more than successful teams,he’s built a culture. A culture of hard work, resilience, respect and pride in wearing the red and blue. He’s backed players when they needed it most, challenged them to be better and created an environment where people have grown.

The success our club has enjoyed is no accident. It’s been built on years of dedication, countless hours behind the scenes and a genuine love for this club.

A few words from Kris Thompson;

“Stepping down at seasons end was definitely a very hard decision, but it’s one I know is right for both myself and for the football club.

Coaching Springvale Districts has been an absolute privilege and I’ve loved every minute of the journey. There have been countless memorable wins and great times both on and off the field and I’ve formed friendships with people connected to the club both young and old that will last a lifetime.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to every player, coach, staff member, volunteer, sponsor and family member who have been part of this journey. Your commitment and belief in what we have built from the ground up has allowed us to achieve far more than most people ever thought possible. Most importantly I’d like thank Casey and the girls for their support right throughout the journey. The girls absolutely love the club and the family atmosphere that has been created.

While change is never easy, it’s also exciting. It creates new energy, new opportunities and the chance for others to leave their own mark. I have complete confidence that the club is in a strong position to continue growing, and I’m genuinely excited to watch the next chapter unfold.

But this story isn’t finished yet. There’s still plenty to play out this season, and we will be giving absolutely everything right until the final siren. Our focus remains on finishing this journey the right way.”
