I’ve been asked by a few people if I was going to be alright to do my next ultra trail race in the Grampians with my back…….. the short answer is no.
Sadly, with my condition of my bulging discs, I won’t be able to do GPT. As much as I may risk to drag myself through the race, it won’t be enjoyable and could be extremely painful/risky.
As sad as it is to not toe the line for this amazing race, I’ve come to accept my position.
In all fairness, this was something that has probably been coming for some time now. It was a case of continuously trying to push through little niggles and not properly giving my body the chance to recover. So I do take full responsibility for my own actions and decisions for getting to this burnt out stage.
However, instead of being down about this, it is a brilliant chance for me to reset my body, mind, spirit and get it right so I don’t have this issue arise again.
Massive thanks to all that’s wished me well and even bigger thanks to everyone that’s helped. Especially Shane Pongho of RADcentre, Lauren Rackley Therapy and Laura Martin Mitch Hovey | FITNESS COACH | B.Ex Sc. Charlee Hill of The Shed Gym 🙌
We’ll be back on the trails, but just for now, so long 👋
Let the rehab begin! 💪
