Most golfers are training the wrong part of the golf swing.

They’re obsessed with takeaway positions, arm movements and club positions, but they’re ignoring the structure that produces them.

The golf swing begins with the pivot.

If your pelvis and thorax can’t rotate together from the very first instant, something else takes over, and the entire movement pattern changes.

Stop chasing positions. Start understanding cause and effect.

Train the pivot. Let the arms and club respond.

Most golfers put an alignment stick along their toes and assume they’re square. They’re not.For a right-handed golfer, you can look perfectly square from the toe line while your actual structure is aimed 10–15° left.Put the stick across your heels instead.Your heels give you a far better reference for how the feet, ankles, knees, hips and pelvis are actually organised.
If the base is misaligned, the swing will respond to it.
Stop checking the toes. Check the heels.

Most golfers are trying to fix what they see during the swing. I look at what created it.

How you organise the pelvis, thorax and spine coming into the ball determines the space available for the body to rotate — and that shapes the first response of the arms and club.

If the structure is wrong, the movement you’re trying to “fix” may simply be the effect.

Stop coaching the response. Understand the cause.

Your arms aren’t the problem. The space you give them is.
Stop trying to manually fix your arms and hands. They’re responding to what the body gives them. If the pelvis and thorax don’t work together and create space, the arms have to find another route — out, around or trapped. Then we coach the position instead of asking what caused it.
Fix the cause. Let the swing respond.

We’ve been taught to look at the golf swing as a series of moves and positions — move the arms here, put the club there, get the elbow into this position.

But what if those movements are simply responses to the structure they’re moving from?

The relationship between the thorax, shoulder girdle and upper arms influences how the arms are able to move. Change that relationship and the response changes.

That’s why endlessly correcting the visible movement can become a never-ending cycle.

Don’t manufacture the motion.
Create the conditions for the motion to happen.

We’ve spent decades analysing where the club, hands and arms should be.
But what if they’re simply responding to something that happened earlier?
The question I’m interested in isn’t WHERE.
It’s WHY.
Find the cause and the response changes.

If I can’t do it myself, I have no right charging you to teach it.

Golf instruction has spent long enough teaching what happens instead of WHY it happens.

I’m done playing safe. I’ve done the work. I’ll stand behind what I teach.

Agree or disagree — let’s have the conversation.

Most golfers are told to get into an “athletic setup.”
But looking athletic doesn’t mean the body is organised correctly.
The relationship between the rib cage, shoulder girdle and the weight of the club can completely change how the arms hang and how much freedom you have to move.If the shoulder girdle is holding the club instead of responding to its weight, you can already be blocked before the club ever moves.
Posture isn’t about how it looks.
It’s about what it allows to happen next.
