Last night was the SwimCON26 Awards Night and it hasn't quite sunk in...

We are so proud to let you know that we won the 2026 Outstanding Community Service Award... AND Regional Swim School of the Year!

This is in recognition of the Making Waves in Broken Hill Regional Program 🌊 that we started this year - this would not be possible without our team, so a huge thank you to Esther, Stacey, Katie, Barb, Karen, Olivia and Xavier.

We would also like to thank our amazing swim community for their ongoing support at Strathalbyn and in Broken Hill.

This week is safety week, please remember to bring a jumper, if L7 and above pants as well.
We are doing rescues so please PUT DOWN or TURN OFF your phone! We need you to be actively watching and listening, the kids may need your help.

We are bursting to share some very exciting news!

Last week, Tabitha attended the Australia Swim Schools Association 2026 Conference on the Gold Coast, connecting with swim school leaders from across Australia, gaining new insights, and bringing home fresh ideas to continue strengthening our programs and services.

While there, Buoyant Swimming & Aquatics was honoured to receive both the:

🥇 SA Regional Community Service Award AND
🥇 National Community Service Award!!!

These awards are in recognition of our Regional Swim Program which was taken to Broken Hill twice in 2026 and we hope to become a regular intensive.

Together, we're making waves 🌊, building confidence, and helping create safer swimmers across South Australia.

Some waves are bigger than others... and today we're celebrating a big one! 🌊🏆

We are thrilled to share that Buoyant Swimming & Aquatics has been recognised as the recipient of the Swim School Program of the Year Award for our "Making Waves in Broken Hill" regional swimming initiative.

Thank you to our staff, participants, families, local partners, and the Broken Hill community for helping make this program such a success. We are honoured to be recognised and remain committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn vital swimming and water safety skills.

Why small steps matter.

Our program is built around incremental progressions. Each new skill is introduced only when a child is ready, allowing confidence and competence to grow together.

It's much like learning to play the piano—you don't start with a full concerto. You learn a few notes, then simple melodies alongside hand position and timing, gradually building towards something more complex.

Swimming is no different, each new skill builds on the one before it. By creating small, achievable successes, children develop skills they can rely on, not just perform once. We believe that steady progress creates confident swimmers—and confidence is one of the most valuable skills a child can take into the water.
