The 2021 edition of the Met 48 Challenge is officially over!
We managed to run and swim a total of ~77kms and 7.7kms over a 48 hour period usually resting no more than 3hours between efforts.
To say it was incredible difficult is an understatement and a testament to the quality and calibre of the Mets Caloundra Surf Club community as a whole.
We just wanted to thank everyone and apologies if we miss someone but there was just Soo many parts to this beautiful machine!
Thank you to all the kids and parents and Cruisers that joined us for one or some of the runs, your presence was always uplifting!
Thank you to Tony B for answering our last minute call for a team tshirt. We loved them and felt very much like a team wearing them.
Thank you to all the non runners (ie swimmers) that joined us throughout the event. Our enjoyment for swimming went from 2/10 to 4/10 and we are starting to see why you love it so much!
Thank you to our core group: Oscar, Scott, Lily, Sophie, Sam, Laura and Rory! You are all machines made of some tough stuff! Certainly made Tom and my effort last year look dismal the way you handled every aspect and stayed strong throughout, sometimes even finding solutions and alternatives, when the wheels were getting a little loose!
Thank you to our amazing 3 physios that heard our call and made all the kids feel 100% again - Peter Bell, Nicole Haynes and Chris Gilles. You all came with unique approaches to our puzzle and passed the test with flying colours!
To Eliza, Candice, Emily and Brent the team behind the scenes! Your contributions were immeasurable, had an answer to everything. Even provided Vas when needed! 🤣
Thank you to the team on the BBQ and grill feeding our family and team. The atmosphere was so family orientated thanks to your gestures. We really appreciate it.
To all the family members of our core crew. You took up the slack their absence created and provided support where needed even providing a portable water stop at the top of our hottest hill climbs. Thank you!
Finally to our better halves and our kids, Poppy, Corey, Carrie, Bonnie, Felix, Kaya and Ola. We are so sorry for being away, and we thank you for all of the support and understanding you have shown. You are irreplaceable. We love ya. Over and out! ✌️✌️👌👌
