This week Pennie successfully completed her grading to 7th Kyu and is our newest member to begin the journey in self-defence 🥋👏
Buderim Karate Club Seikukan has been established since 2008. Head Instructor Sensei Mark Comerford is a 4th Dan Black Belt with over 25 years of experience and a Bronze Level AKF (Australian Karate Federation).
The focus of training is self-defence, taught within the framework of traditional Japanese martial arts. Respect and discipline remain central to our values, but the club also maintains a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where fun is an important part of learning.
Training is held at St Mark’s Anglican Church Hall, Main Street, Buderim (opposite Buderim Primary School) on Thursdays from 5 - 7pm during school terms.

Our club prides itself on being friendly, welcoming, and fun-oriented. We believe that enjoyment is the key to effective learning, especially when it comes to mastering self-defence techniques. The cost of each session is only $5 per hour, and our annual insurance fee amounts to approximately $28.

If you want to increase your fitness and at the same time learn some necessary self defence skills then we can help you achieve your goals. We train 1 night/week during school terms on a thursday afternoon from 5-7pm. Teenagers and adults are welcome and we also accept children from 10 years on.
The head instructor is a 4th Dan Black belt with 25 years of experience. He is also assisted by other 4th Dan Black belts and 1st Dans as well. The club is non profit and located in the Buderim St Mark's Anglican church hall, opposite the Buderim primary school. It has a reputation for being fun yet disciplined.
As well as general training, those who wish to advance and compete in AKF karate tournaments can do so as well. The head instructor is also a bronze level coach.

The lessons are $5/hr, no joining/membership fees. A very small insurance fee(once/year) is the only other cost except for gis(uniforms) and gloves, sold at cost price.

We are having another self defence night on Thursday 18th October at the St Mark’s Anglican Church hall from 5-7pm. As usual it will be a fun night but with an emphasis on close contact altercations. We will teach a few basic but essential techniques which may help you to get out of a potentially harmful situation. Loose clothing & a water bottle are all you need. $5 for 2 hours goes towards the hall costs. We are a non profit club. Ring Mark on 0448025938 for details.

Another self defence night coming up on Thursday 26th October from 5-7pm at St Mark’s Anglican church hall in Buderim. Street based with self defence scenarios. 5 black belt instructors using techniques derived from karate, some aikido & jujitsu. No fitness required. Come with loose pants & T-shirt. $5 for 2 hours. We aim to teach all aspects of self defence. Head instructor is 3rd dan Black Belt in karate with 20 years experience having also studied Aikido and some Jujitsu. The focus in the club is on close contact self defence with defence against knives also taught. The club has been operating for over 10 years with many karate black belts awarded to its students. Fitness and stretching/strengthening also part of the lessons. $5/hr for 2 hrs every thursday from 5-7pm.
