🔥🏏 2ND GRADE SCORCHERS GET IT DONE! 🏏🔥

A huge performance from our Sunshine Coast Scorchers Men’s 2nd Grade today, taking a commanding 75-run victory over the Ipswich Hornets at Kerry Emery Oval.

Batting first, the Scorchers put together a strong 6/145 from their 20 overs, with Brendon Schultz leading the way with 45 from 36 balls, including five boundaries and a six. A***n Sanjay backed it up beautifully with 32 from 28, clearing the rope twice, while another important 40 from 36 helped build the platform. Kyle Scheepers then added some late punch with an unbeaten 13 from just 7 balls.

But it was with the ball that the Scorchers really turned up the heat. 🔥

Ipswich were never allowed to settle, with wickets falling regularly as the Scorchers applied pressure from both ends. Kyle Scheepers was outstanding with 3/19 from his four overs, while Caelan Barr grabbed 2/9 from two and Malakai Pearce chipped in with 1/8 from two.

Behind the stumps, Alex Maidment was sharp with two catches and a stumping, while Locke Robinson was involved in a run out as the fielding unit kept the pressure firmly on.

The Hornets were restricted to 9/70, sealing a comprehensive win for the Sunshine Coast.

A proper team performance — runs on the board, wickets shared, pressure in the field and plenty of Scorchers energy. 🔥

A huge chase, a captain’s knock and plenty of fight from the Scorchers — but Western Suburbs held on by just five runs in a high-scoring KFC T20 Max clash.

Set 203 to win, the Sunshine Coast refused to let the game get away, finishing on 3/197.

⭐ Nick Selman was simply outstanding, carrying his bat for a brilliant 120 from just 61 balls*, including 9 fours and 7 sixes. An incredible captain’s innings that kept the Scorchers right in the hunt.

🔥 Mitch Jamieson played an important hand alongside him, compiling 52 from 40 balls, as the pair drove the chase deep and gave the Scorchers every chance of pulling off a big one.

With the ball, Ben Baker and Oli Bembrick were among the wicket-takers, as Western Suburbs posted 3/202 before the Scorchers came within touching distance of chasing it down.

Not the result we wanted, but plenty to take from this one. 197 runs, only three wickets down and a skipper in seriously good touch.

The flame is well and truly burning. 🔥🏏
