Love when people want to share their story from our workshop.

“Bare Naked Boards’ surf‑board‑making course with Shayne was a truly meaningful experience. From the first hands‑on to the final shape, the process was incredibly satisfying—each piece of the board came together under clear, practical guidance. Shayne’s welcoming presence made the workshop feel approachable, and he was always ready to offer advice whenever I needed it.

The hands‑on instruction was precise and encouraging, turning the seemingly complex into doable approachable steps. I left the workshop having built a board that exceeded my expectations, both in craftsmanship and in the confidence it gave me. The sense of accomplishment I felt when the finished board was in my hands was more rewarding than I could have imagined.

If you’re looking for a positive, skill‑building experience that stays with you long after you finish, this course is a perfect fit. Shayne’s expertise and supportive style create an environment where anyone can create a board they’re proud to ride or hang on your wall as a piece of art”

Nothing rushed.
Just time, timber, and the long way through.

From the first cut of wood to the final sand, every step is taken with intention. Mistakes are fixed, not hidden. Lines are adjusted by eye and feel, not by a template. The board tells you when it’s ready.

And when it finally meets the sea, it doesn’t feel new —
it feels familiar.

That first wave isn’t about performance or perfection.
It’s about trust.
Trust in the process.
Trust in the hands that built it.
Trust that some things are still worth doing properly.

This is how our boards begin.
Slow, honest, and ready for a long life in the water.

Straight Out of the Glassing Bay.

This is what handcrafted really looks like.
No filters. No fake shine. Just raw, real timber doing its thing.

We don’t rush.
We don’t cut corners.
We don’t pump out plastic.

We build surfboards that turn heads before they even touch water.

Workshops + DIY kits are open now for 2026

Some boards take a weekend to build.
And some memories last a lifetime.

This father and son came in with no expectations…
just a few tools, a bit of curiosity, and time together.

Each cut, each pass of the plane, each laugh — it all becomes part of the board.
That’s why we love this craft.
You don’t just shape timber…
you shape a story.

Some boards you buy. Some boards you build.

This is Luke. He was travelling back from the top end of Australia and stopped in at the shed to handcraft a wall hanger, he’s always loved working. It’s his way of slowing down, switching off, and getting his hands busy. For years, he’d been curious about timber surfboards. The grain, the curves, the idea of shaping something made to ride waves — even if he never planned on riding it.

So he came to Bare Naked Boards. No machines, no production line. Just raw timber, hand tools, and a simple idea: build something that’s one-of-a-kind.
Luke brought his board to life. He wasn’t chasing perfection — that’s not what timber gives you anyway. What he built was even better: a board with character. A board with soul.
That’s the beauty of working with your hands. You don’t just end up with a surfboard — you end up with a story. Something you can hang on the wall, pass down, or even take out for a paddle.

At Bare Naked Boards, we make space for moments like this. A chance to slow down, step into the workshop, and walk away with something that’s truly yours

It’s not about how good you are with tools. It’s not about whether you surf every weekend or not at all. It’s about the experience of shaping something real.

Surfing changes. Trends change. But the feeling of making something with your own two hands? That never goes out of style. Your turn 🌊🏄

Two boards, built together, but not the same. That’s just how it goes with timber.
Every line, every bit of grain, it all takes on its own look. That’s what makes each board a little extra special here
Because when you’re riding something built by hand, you’re riding more than just a board, you’re riding a story.
