SINGAPORE T100 – DARREN GRIFFITHS
Darren Griffiths delivered a strong performance in extremely hot and humid conditions at the T100 Singapore Triathlon.
Starting with a swim in the warm, slightly green waters of Marina Bay right off Marina Bay Sands, Darren exited near the iconic Singapore Flyer, marking a solid start to his race.
The 80km bike course was relentless, featuring repeated climbs over bridges and more than 400m of elevation on smooth highways. Despite consuming six bottles over 2.5 hours, the heat and humidity proved challenging, with hydration still falling short heading into the run.
The 18km run wound through the F1 precinct and around Gardens by the Bay, offering a spectacular but demanding course. Aid stations every kilometre and cold drinks were essential. After 12km, the race was stopped due to lightning, with only a small number of athletes completing the full distance.
Backing up from a strong showing at the T100 Gold Coast Triathlon, Darren came into the race in great form, but Singapore presented a very different challenge. With conditions comparable to Kona and higher intensity over a shorter course, managing hydration was critical.
Race position progression:
27th out of the swim
15th after the bike
Up to 9th by 7km into the run
A wrong turn on the run course, caused by signage left from the pro race the day before, impacted around 40% of the field, adding further complexity to an already tough race day.
A resilient performance from Darren Griffiths in one of the most challenging environments on the circuit, well done!

WORLD CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Addison Houslip had the honour of wearing the green and gold representing Australia for the second time in just three months!
It was a memorable day for Addie and her supporters at the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. Described by commentators as “the world’s best footrace,” the event attracted huge crowds and was broadcast globally by World Athletics.
The course was challenging and worthy of a World Championship, featuring log jumps, sand, mud, a water crossing, a bridge, constant undulations and numerous turns. In very tight racing, where athletes from 10th to 40th were separated by around one minute, Addie’s time of 21:26 for 6km was an excellent performance. Addie finished 35th, 4th Australia across the line and part of the point-scorers for Australia to get 5th in the World as a team.
Preparation was short and included a pre-planned three-week family holiday. Addie is primarily a triathlete, meaning her training load is spread across three disciplines and her running volume is significantly lower than that of specialist runners. At just 16 years of age, she was also one of the youngest athletes in the Under 20 field.
Travelling and racing as part of the Australian Team on the world stage was a wonderful and memorable experience.
After a short rest and reset, Addie will now turn her focus back to triathlon as the domestic and Oceania season begins, with further opportunities for Australian team selection ahead.
Congratulations Addie, an impressive young athlete with a bright future. Your hard work, commitment and focus inspires us all!
