Wrapping up the year of kindy teacher workshops with a trip down to the Scenic Rim & Logan regions.

At the end, I teach a class to demonstrate to the teachers how to apply what they’ve learnt with me, in real time with the children. I asked the children what they enjoyed most- “The breathing ball; the yoga poses; the dance and freeze; or the rainbow meditation?“ With a beaming smile, one little boy said “I loved all of it” 💘

Perfect feedback to end the year of workshops. 😊

Kids understand their environment through play! Pretty cool to see the wind farms out west… and then go into the classroom to see the kindy children creating their own!

This week’s kindy teacher workshop took me 3.5 hours out west to Jandowae. Shared the road with 7 Roos, 3 cows, 2 rabbits and a dead snake- Straya!🤠

The children LOVED their calm tools session and their temple massages … which sent them into a deep sleep!

Handmade thank you cards are the BEST! 🥰

I love how the kindy children have reflected on what they enjoyed most this term… and my favourite is the “cooking sausages on the BBQ” which isn’t in any of my lesson plans so not sure where that came from?! 🤭

Big thanks to Emily for helping me to teach a few of these classes whilst I was away- maybe you cooked the sausages?! 🤣

This weekend at was a beautiful reminder that great teaching isn’t about sticking to the lesson plan.

One class started with a double-booked venue and a loud electronic toddler band. Another had children constantly coming and going. The third began with just two shy three-year-olds and ended with ten children aged 2–9.

Each time, I had to adapt.

We explored unicorn lands, circuses, rainbows and waterfalls. Children took turns teaching poses. Parents joined in. Meditations were created on the spot using the children’s ideas.

This is why, when I train Children’s Yoga Teachers and Calm Coaches, I focus on themes and adaptable frameworks rather than rigid lesson plans.

Because the magic happens when you teach the children in front of you, not the lesson you planned on paper. ✨

The pizza massage is a fun and engaging way for kids to connect with others, using safe touch.

Each massage move represents a part of the pizza making method. 💆🏻‍♀️ 🍕

Last week I had the great pleasure of sharing the “calm tools for kindy” workshop with some incredible kindergarten teachers in Rockhampton, central QLD.

We explored movements for kids with retained primitive reflexes which often shows up as similar presentations to ADHD and Autism. (Fascinating!)

We also spent some time exploring ways to help children learn to relax in lieu of “nap time”.

Inspiring teachers to weave some yoga based tools into their already FULL days work that I absolutely LOVE. 🩵 When I get to share workshops with a team of teachers as passionate and committed to children as this team- the inspiration flows both ways! 💫
