This weekend at was a beautiful reminder that great teaching isn’t about sticking to the lesson plan.
One class started with a double-booked venue and a loud electronic toddler band. Another had children constantly coming and going. The third began with just two shy three-year-olds and ended with ten children aged 2–9.
Each time, I had to adapt.
We explored unicorn lands, circuses, rainbows and waterfalls. Children took turns teaching poses. Parents joined in. Meditations were created on the spot using the children’s ideas.
This is why, when I train Children’s Yoga Teachers and Calm Coaches, I focus on themes and adaptable frameworks rather than rigid lesson plans.
Because the magic happens when you teach the children in front of you, not the lesson you planned on paper. ✨

Last week I had the great pleasure of sharing the “calm tools for kindy” workshop with some incredible kindergarten teachers in Rockhampton, central QLD.
We explored movements for kids with retained primitive reflexes which often shows up as similar presentations to ADHD and Autism. (Fascinating!)
We also spent some time exploring ways to help children learn to relax in lieu of “nap time”.
Inspiring teachers to weave some yoga based tools into their already FULL days work that I absolutely LOVE. 🩵 When I get to share workshops with a team of teachers as passionate and committed to children as this team- the inspiration flows both ways! 💫

Turns out… crocs DO do yoga and the kindy kids absolutely loved exploring their own croc poses at the end.
Received this gem of a book a few years ago from the author, with a bonus signed copy to give away which is now at a school library in Toowoomba with librarian and kids yoga teacher, Lily so now, even more little yogis can enjoy this stellar kids yoga book. 👏

This Mountain Sun Salute sequence is one I created over 20 years ago—and it’s still a favourite with kids today.
I’ve recently added some subtle new layers to it, to support the needs of today’s kids, including cross-body patterning, core control, and nervous system regulation.
Set as a playful mountain walk (with a waterfall, snake, tiger, frog and tree 🐍🐯🐸), it’s a fun full-body warm-up to help kids feel calm, focused, and ready to learn.
Perfect for kindy, classrooms, yoga sessions, or as a brain break.
✨ Can also be adapted for older children with a more mature delivery

You’re never too old to love 😊
Seeing Julia’s face light up at Inspired Kids Yoga Teacher Training when she discovered there is a Yoga Barbie 😳 … gave me the same delight as it did to receive it as a Christmas gift as an adult! 🎁 👏
