Ollie Chirnside Racing

Last weekend was a real breakout weekend. Qualified 5th after some starting troubles on the grid, only got 3 laps of qualy in but qualified 5th. Finished the first race in second place, 4th in the second race, got punted off in the third race and finished 6th. Started 3rd in the final and unfortunately dropped a position just after the start, finished 4th in the final and 4th overall for the day. Kart ran very strongly.

Unfortunately wasn’t our day yesterday. Ollie was running really strongly in qualifying and the first three heats. After the 3rd heat we noticed fuel/oil running down the side of the engine block where it shouldn’t be. We pulled the motor down and found the main oil seal had worked its way loose. Frantically fixed that temporarily to get him on the grid for the final. Unfortunately the kart wouldn’t start and Ollie missed the final. Turned out to be some tiny grit particles in the carby jets that flooded the motor.
Motor has gone with Jack from Jack Munro Racing for a full rebuild, ready for the next round.

Race weekend is here again! Practice today, race tomorrow.

Did you know that the karts run a computer on their steering wheels that put out a huge amount of data, including speed, rpm, exhaust temp, tuning settings, lap times etc. All this info gets fed back into a laptop and changes can be made as needed. F1 technology filtering right down to karts!

Had a busy couple of weeks since Rd1 at Cooloola. The weather was wet nearly all weekend. Had two 2nd places in the heats and came 3rd for the weekend! Love racing in the wet and looking forward to Rd2.

New season, new go kart! Tested well at Ipswich a couple of weeks ago. Ollie likes how it feels, ready to race at Toowoomba on the 22nd and 23rd of Feb, then Cooloola at Gympie the following weekend!
