Is your eBike actually road legal?
Police in several states can now seize (and in some cases destroy) illegal devices.
Road-legal eBikes in Australia generally require:
• Maximum 250W continuous motor power
• Motor assistance that cuts out at 25 km/h
• Pedal-assist only (throttle limited to 6 km/h walk-assist)
Software limits on higher-powered motors do not make them legal.

ATT: Queensland eBike riders — important change from 31 August.
You’ll need a valid driver’s licence (minimum Learner) to ride on public roads and paths. Exemptions apply for supervised 12–17 year olds, certain medical conditions, and designated recreational areas.
These rules apply to public roads and pathways. Always check the latest official information on the QLD Government Streetsmarts website.
