🚨 NSW FISHING RULES ALERTS — SNAPPER, KINGFISH & NANNYGAI UPDATES 🚨
If you fish in NSW, heads up! There are huge changes happening right now for three major species: Snapper, Yellowtail Kingfish, and Redfish (Eastern Nannygai).

While Snapper and Kingfish are currently out for public feedback, the new Nannygai rules have officially been locked in and take effect next month.

🔴 FINAL UPDATES: REDFISH
EASTERN NANNYGAI
The NSW Government has finalised a stock rebuilding program for Nannygai. These hard rules kick in on October 7, 2026, and run until 2031:
• Recreational Bag Limit: Cut down to just 1 fish per person.
• Minimum Size Limit: Set at 25 cm.
• Commercial Limits: Capped at a 40 kg possession limit for Ocean Trawl/Trap & Line, and a zero limit for all other commercial fisheries.
🐟 PROPOSED RULES: SNAPPER
The draft harvest strategy is open for consultation until October 18, 2026:
• Bag Limit: Reduced to a 3-fish possession limit per person.
• Size Limit: Only 1 snapper over 70 cm allowed within that limit.

🐟 PROPOSED RULES: YELLOWTAIL KINGFISH
The draft harvest strategy is open for consultation until October 18, 2026:
• Bag Limit: Cut to 1 fish per person.
• Boat Limit: Restricted to just 1 fish per vessel (recreational or charter), regardless of how many people are onboard.
• Seasonal Rules: Potential catch-and-release only from November to January.
