Who cares if you’re strong?
Short answer: You should.
It used to be that getting strong was only for athletes, labourers and gym bro’s. When people thought of getting healthy the obvious choice seemed to be jogging or an aerobics class.
But then along came good old fashioned science!
It’s more effective for reducing and preventing abdominal fat
Improves cardiovascular health
Can help control blood sugar levels
Helps strengthen bones and can prevent osteoporosis
Improves joint function
Flexibility and mobility
Improve brain function
Balance, coordination
Not only can it increase your lifespan, but it can make your twilight years a LOT more independent
Going for a run is great if you want to be good at running. Weight training is great if you want to be fit and healthy now and into old age!

Can you party and still be fit??
Sure you can, but how fit? The answer, as it often is in fitness, is 'it depends'.
1. What condition are you in now?
2. What condition do you want to be in?
3. How important is your fitness goal and your lifestyle?
If you're in a good place already and just need to maintain then my advice is to take it easy, focus on what your body needs to recover. Often the biggest setback with a big weekend isn’t really what you put in your body, it can be what you don’t. Lack of water, sleep and nutrition. Water is easy, drink more of it. Your priority is to sleep as soon as possible after a bender, as soon and as much! Your second priority is nutrition. Being prepared helps, and so do liquid calories. Make yourself a smoothie before hitting the sack with protein and fruit and you’ll bounce back much quicker.
It's important to factor your lifestyle into your program and be realistic. Don’t commit to a 5 day training schedule when you know you’ll feel like death every Monday. Use Monday for getting back on your feet, walk and re-feed and hit it hard again on Tuesday.
So that's all well and good for maintaining, however if you feel your lifestyle has compromised your strength and fitness over the years then you're likely going to need a bit more commitment and a good plan. That's where I can help.
