Doesn’t matter what age is the swimmer, best way to assess ask below questions

DROPS
D - does the person have the ability to change direction
R - rhythmic breathing - does the person feel comfortable putting face in the water.
O - over - does the person have the ability to roll over
P - prone (front) float
S - supine (back) float
