Reflections that came through yesterday while attempting a nap between teaching ✍🏼 ✨

I am different today to who I was yesterday, different today to who I was last week.

Tomorrow I will be a new version of me, next week completely changed!

Bask in the knowing that where you’ll be is not where you are now.

No matter what, you today will not be you tomorrow.

So best we stay curious and close to this moment now, while holding gratitude for who we are becoming.

Most days I make my way into my body in some way, whether it’s breath, yoga, embodiment techniques, dance, meditation. All doorways to access and regulate my nervous system, to (most of the time) feel anchored. To feel rested and alive.

So much of the time we are squeezed up into our minds that we can fear going in. Fear our bodies. I know because I was there once… so lost in the fear. The doubt. The uncertainty. Now I see. I see how valuable our bodies are. How they house all the answers. Our bodies are the gateways to our freedom.

This Friday, at our online Women’s Circle, we’ll be exploring an embodiment meditation that literally drips us out of the mind and into the cells of the body. Into Her. The place of no mind. An invitation to experience what it feels like to live from the inside out, to feel anchored and alive.

There will be breath too and new AMAZING insight into our menstrual cycles, led by the wonderful 🩸

The full moon is in the sign of Ta**us this month so a perfect time to ground and anchor IN, connecting to our inner well of wisdom.

✨A healing journey ~

reflecting back on my own journey so far, as I look at the past 3 years of healing from chronic stress and burnout, wow it has been an interesting, eye-opening spiritual ride! I had my first spiritual awakening straight after my burn out and since then I decided to take the path of self-healing (the GPs that I did see gave me medication for my acid reflux and reading material on how to manage stress- more of a bandaid than finding the root cause so I naturally started to look elsewhere) - getting curious about the woo woo, energetics, beliefs, coaching, spinal health, tapping, embodiment, yoga, breath, dancing, play and more. They all played a part.. My life over the last 3 years has been one awakening after the next. Awakening to energy, to the different levels of consciousness, to the soul and ego, to unconscious patterns and beliefs 🤯 to the feminine rising and our nervous system and how disembodied I was before I started to spend time with my body. I started to understand that our bodies store everything, the emotions that we suppress, past traumas big or small, that our nervous systems are, in many case, constantly in fight or flight, not balanced at all (but we live there for so long, it becomes the norm!).

When we look within, we can begin to change all of this. We can start to liberate the parts of us that we didn’t even know needed liberating. I truly believe this. I have never felt more free in this vessel of mine than this year. I am more connected in my speaking, teaching, my art, my dance than ever before (these hips don’t lie 😉) And I know it’s only the beginning. For me it’s about learning to feel safe, empowered and alive in the body. And it is my dream to support others in finding this safety and liberation too. This month I started a Feminine Embodiment Facilitator Training Program with the wonderful .belyea We’ll be going deep into the nervous system, somatics, energetics, breath, movement, inner child healing. The works! And I am so excited to embody more of this work so that I can support others in a greater capacity in return.

‼️Breathing doesn’t need to be complicated (at all!)

When I first learnt about pranayama, I was overwhelmed by the Sanskrit names, mudras and the many different types. It was a lot to take in and I would only feel comfortable doing them in a yoga class with an instructor. Since becoming a Breath Coach, my view on breathing has shifted dramatically. What was once an occasional practice that I didn’t really understand, has now become a deeply meaningful embodied daily devotion.

Here is why:
❤️ I know the science and it’s relationship to our nervous system, every single breathing exercise is simply affecting it in one of three ways: parasympathetic, sympathetic, or balancing response.

❤️ I’ve learnt that simple exercises work just as well as the more complex ones and can be learned in minutes. That it doesn’t have to be ‘hard’ or only for yogis, it gets to be easy and anyone can do them.

✨ I have only 2 SPOTS left for Online Group Breath Coaching starting this Thursday and from next week I’ve decided to open a few spots for IN-PERSON sessions too!

Yoga breathing is a gateway to the body, a self care tool for life 🥳 It has supported me and my clients in so many ways, from anxiety to digestion to sleep and more.

Ever since my burn-out in 2018, I have been through so much inner turmoil, pain, disconnection, loneliness, fear. My nervous system was extremely dysregulated - the pandemic didn’t help either causing so much uncertainty and collective fear and dysregulation. This year has been like a homecoming to my internal world. To nurturing my nervous system, to returning to that homeostasis.

Regarding CO-REGULATION, something has just clicked that I wanted to share. I have been in the presence of some amazing coaches and mentors and this year, most of who have done a lot of inner work to now feel safe in their bodies. I’ve often commented about how much better I feel after being in their presence - good energy, good vibes - but now I see this is not just energetic, my nervous system actually feels safer in their presence and I am able to reach my own prime state of joyful expression around them and carry that forward with me, in sharing my own regulated nervous system with my clients who often then say the same thing about me.

I cannot tell you how valuable coaching and joining group programs has been for me this year. As this above text states, we are not alone in this struggle. Our internal world shapes those around us.

My invitation to you, if this resonates, is to find someone, a mentor or a friend (or group of people) that you feel safe around. Talk to them often, and notice the shift in your body.

Hello ladies.. it’s the full moon tomorrow (in sensitive planet Pisces) and spring equinox thereafter. A potent week with delicious spring energy! Offering us the opportunity to feel, flow and release.

Sophia and I are delighted to be offering a free circle tomorrow evening 6pm-7.30pm.

An opportunity to come together in sister circle, to support your sacred feminine energy, refill your own cup and make time to deeply ground and connect with the natural cycles of your bodies.

Understanding the science behind the role of carbon dioxide in the body and how it impacts our breathing is key in improving the way we breathe. We need C02 in our bodies to uptake efficient oxygen into the cells. By controlling our breathing we can build a tolerance to CO2 and control and regulate the chemistry in our body.

Practising breathing through the nose and slowing down the breath regularly throughout your day is a great starting point for improving your breathing. Things like breath-holds after a normal exhale is another tool to improve CO2 tolerance.

It is so important that we undertand the role of CO2 in the body so that we can improve our breathing by increasing our tolerance to it, improving oxygen uptake into the cells.

When we take the time to empower ourselves with this kind of knowledge, it can be life changing because BREATH literally is LIFE! 😍🌬

We cover this and more in the 4 Week Breath Coaching Program and learn simple yet powerful yoga breathing practices to integrate into your day that support your stress, energy levels, digestion, sleep, mood and balance.

Breathing has such an immediate impact on our mind and body that even the act of inhaling vs. exhaling affects your nervous system differently 😮 It’s common to train in exercise and diet, but almost no one trains their breath.

Breathing is such an important aspect of our health and well-being. Understanding it can help increase energy, improve digestion, reduce insomnia and the fear of public speaking, lower stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. It’s super powerful and empowering as a tool for self care.

✨ r i t u a l ✨

I have started to buy myself a rose every 3 weeks. I put it in a single vase next to my bed, and the dead flower I hang up to dry or boil to make rose water for my baths. I call it my little ✨ r i t u a l ✨

It allows me to take a step back, pause, and be in the miraculous awe of not only the beauty of the rose but also my own life here on earth. It also allows me to show up for myself… to remind myself that: babe, you’re so worthy! You’re life is of value. Be proud of yourself for what you have overcome and accomplished🙏🏽💃🏻You are so loved and capable of more than you know.”

… sometimes I forget these things. It helps to have a reminder. Perhaps you needed to hear it today too 🌹🥰🌹

✨ DID YOU KNOW ✨ that just like many of us overeat, many of us over-breath. In today’s world of heightened stimulation and stress it is very common to be an over-breather. This causes a vicious cycle because when we over breath we loose CO2 in the body, which in turn reducing the release of oxygen into the cells, which then causes you to feel breathless and therefore you want to keep over-breathing 🤭

The yoga breathing pattern that I teach is defined primarily by the rate of breathing, meaning how fast or slow you breath. The breathing practices that I share with my clients, affect your breath and your nervous system response in a matter of minutes, just by changing your breathing rate.
