Your committee member’s cogs have been turning and we have managed to secure the synthetic track at ES Marks in Moore Park on Saturday morning, giving our athletes the chance to have a run on tartan before Regional.
We will still be holding our Friday night competition at Narrabeen (weather permitting) however again it will be a modified program (P1 this time); the grass surface is not yet suitable for hurdles, and we are awaiting confirmation on use of the circular track. Field events will be as normal and we should still have field 2 for sprints if field 1 is not yet open.
For those interested in attending Saturday morning at ES Marks, please note there will not be age managers managing groups. You will need to listen to calls and send your child to the start line when required. Races will be from 8am. There will be no field events.
We will be offering track TRAINING races only, meaning they will not be computer timed. Due to the last minute arrangements we have managed to secure, we do not have the capability to fill the many official and parent duties roles that would be needed for a proper timed meet. Therefore, if you want your child’s race time you will need to hand time them yourself. All distances will be offered.
As we will be running hurdles Saturday morning, there will be a small number of parent duty roles needing to be filled. If you would like to take up this option as one of your four duties instead of a remaining competition week, please email [email protected]

Colbert Shield this Saturday, let’s go Wakehurst!!!
This Saturday will be quite a different format to normal!
If you’re keen for some triple jump or walks, please arrive at 7:20am for a 7:30am start.
Those athletes who have been notified that they’re representing their club in the annual Colbert Shield shuttle relay will need to meet their club manager at the green zone by 8:15am. All other athletes should arrive by 8:30 to cheer on your club in the relay, followed by a visit from the big guy with some goodies for the kids.
Then we will be going through events from P2, however some groups (especially the larger ones) may follow a team challenge format to speed the morning up, rather than completing each individual field event with measurements as normal.
See you all Saturday for some Christmas and inter-club challenge cheer!

Now that the season has started and we’ve been able to identify groups that have space for trials, we can advise that there will be only one trial date this season, on October 5th, and that trials will only be offered in the 7s, 14s, 15s, 16s, 17s and U20 age groups. Anyone in any age group is welcome to head to Narrabeen on a Saturday morning to watch the comp and see how we roll. No rego necessary for that!
To register for a trial, go to the Manly Warringah Little Athletics website (calendar) between now and 4th October and click ‘Trial’ to enter your athlete’s details. Only those born in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2018 can do a trial.
Arrive at 8am on the 5th of October. When you arrive go to the computer room next to the synthetic track to check in and be given a bib. You will need to pay your $10 to collect your bib.
Registrations for the season will close the following week (13th October to give trialists the chance to sign up after their trial.

We are run entirely by volunteers and that includes YOU! 🙌🏻
If you are signed up for a parent duty, check your email confirmation from the sign up site for what time you need to arrive. You must check in at the sign in desk just inside the gates at the red zone (synthetic track area) before your duty commences to get a lanyard. If you don’t sign in, your duty won’t be counted, so don’t miss this important step! Once checked in, the sign on desk will send you where you need to go.
Our age groups are all run by volunteer Age Managers. Each group requires additional parent assistance to help rake, measure, record and wrangle! If you want to make your way around the events with your child’s group, you need to be signed on as an age manager assistant (AMA); in other words, if you’re with the age group, that means you’re offering your help!
For insurance purposes, you must sign on as an AMA with the age manager when you arrive, where you’ll be given a job to do. Once the age manager has enough assistance, remaining parents will be asked to return to the grandstand/viewing areas instead of with the age group.
With some groups having over 50 kids, adding parents standing around chatting makes the age manager’s job much harder. Please don’t be offended if you are asked to view from afar!
