Our time in the U.S.A competing in the Casa Vela Cup and Santa Maria Cup as part of the Women's World Match Racing Tour has come to an end. We are sad to leave yet inspired and proud with what we’ve achieved in the last two weeks.
The Santa Maria Cup was held out of Eastport Yacht Club, sailing on Chesapeake Bay was similar to a game of snakes and ladders, we enjoyed the diverse and shifty sailing conditions and were able to put into practice what we learnt in San Francisco.
We had some great moments in the Santa Maria Cup and went all guns blazing into Day 1 and put together some nice races in upper range wind conditions. We struggled a little bit over the next few days in the lighter winds but kept at it and after an eventful 5th v 6th sail off we finished 6th overall.
We bring back home some incredible memories and a solid idea of what we need to work on next, looking forward to getting back onto Sydney Harbour and getting on the water for some early morning winter training sessions.
We are very grateful to everyone that has supported us in making this trip possible and look forward to sharing our next goals and adventures. 🧜🏼♀️ 🇩🇰

We have finished up our first Women's World Match Racing Tour event here in San Francisco and what a week we’ve had, our first taste of the Women’s World Match Racing Tour at the opening event, the Casa Vela Cup has been incredible.
Sailing in the iconic San Francisco Bay has not disappointed, we raced in building winds most days and navigated the ever-present tides and currents. Whilst wrestling the bow of the lively J22, Tiana doubled as a wildlife, wing foiler and container ship spotter, thankfully no seals, dolphins or insane people wing foiling in the 11° C water were harmed.
We pushed hard in every race, testing the boundaries between getting out of the tide and losing our damage deposit by running aground, we often found ourselves sailing upwind mere metres from the shoreline and close enough to the St Francis Clubhouse that our phones connected to the WIFI.
Racing in the J22’s was exhilarating, sailing downwind was like being on a rollercoaster and there was no room for error in the gybes once the breeze started picking up. We are over the moon in how much we were able to learn this week and feel our result of 7th solidly reflects how we sailed and our improvements after the first-round robin.
A massive thank you to St. Francis Yacht Club and all the amazing volunteers and umpires. Special thank you to Molly who housed us for the week, it was awesome to be involved in such a well-run event and welcoming group of people.
Thanks to everyone back home for your unwavering support, including the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron – couldn’t do it without you.
We sit here writing this on a plane flying across to the east coast of America where we will compete in the Santa Maria Cup in Annapolis out of Eastport Yacht Club, we cannot wait to implement what we have learnt this week and suss out the conditions on Chesapeake Bay!
Over and Out,
