Gratitude actually affects your Brain and your happy hormones.
A 2008 study showed "that gratitude causes synchronized activation in multiple brain regions, and lights up parts of the brainโs reward pathways and the hypothalamus. In short, gratitude can boost neurotransmitter serotonin and activate the brain stem to produce dopamine." (Dopamine is our brain's pleasure chemical.)

Consider that, allowing someone to help you is also giving them the pleasure of playing that "support" role. โ
