One of the most important parts of kids Jiu Jitsu happens in moments like these.
Learning how to listen, stay focused, respect their coaches and understand the “why” behind what they’re doing. The techniques matter, but so do the lessons that come with them.
At SJJA Chatswood, every class is about helping kids grow on and off the mats.

Warmup Drive đź’Ž
Our students see the importance of the Jiu Jitsu warmup, and to many it’s their favourite part. It’s essential for our members to understand the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu safety, and that’s what the warmup is for.
Learning how to fall, how to bend, how to control your body and know your own range of motion. This is how we avoid injury and ensure your kids are safe on the mats 🥋

Teamwork on the mats at SJJA Chatswood. 🥋
A lot of what we do in kids class is about working together. Drills like these help the kids develop coordination, balance, and communication while supporting their partner through the movement.
It’s always great to see them encouraging each other, working as a team, and having fun while they learn. Small moments like this go a long way in building confidence and trust on the mats.

Learning jiu-jitsu starts with the small habits.
In our kids classes at SJJA Chatswood, we put a big focus on organisation. Lining up properly, paying attention, and being ready when it’s time to drill all help create a great learning environment for everyone on the mat.
These little routines help the kids stay focused, support their teammates, and get the most out of every class. It’s great to see the team taking pride in these habits as they grow in their training.

Technique time at SJJA Chatswood.
One of the most important parts of class is slowing things down and really paying attention to the details. Watching the demonstration, asking questions, and then trying it out with a partner helps the kids understand not just what to do, but why it works.
It’s always great to see the focus from the team during these moments. Learning the fundamentals together and helping each other improve is a big part of what makes the room special.
Every parent wants their child to be confident.
