WINTER SERIES 24MAY26:
Our popular Winter Series has started with a very light and lumpy first race. The race area was sandwiched between easterly and westerly pressure systems, producing light and variable breezes. The lumpy sea swell added to the challenge in the sound well done to the eight starters and seven finishers. First was ‘Vudu Expresso’, a strong single-handed performance. ‘Navita’ second and ‘Ruffiana’ in third.

Winter Series starts this Sunday!

The popular NHSC Winter Series kicks off this Sunday, 24 May, with the first of six fortnightly races. Our winter courses are different to summer, so please check your Course Sheets before racing.

A quick note on handicaps: we are amending SI 15.9 so that start-time adjustments after each race are a little more progressive, particularly where there are larger fleets.

Our aim is to adjust the fleet a little faster, and to better recognise consistent starters who might otherwise sit in the middle of the pointscore.

New Winter Handicaps have been issued with the start sheet by email check your inbox.

RUFFIANA: NHSC Summer Series Winner

Congratulations to Ruffiana on taking out the Summer Series!

A standout series for Mark, Neil and the crew—almost as standout as their new uniforms!

Not only did Ruffiana start each of the six races, but the boat has been going faster and faster, with spinnaker regularly flown. They managed to overcome the (unstoppable) MRX by two points to take out the Summer series! A thoroughly deserved win!

We look forward to seeing the crew on Presentation Day on the 17th of May to collect their spoils.

SUMMER SERIES: well done to all competitors in our final race of the Summer Series. A fleet of 10 starters enjoyed a perfect April day on the harbour. A light N-NE of 8 to 12 knots provided an enjoyable sail up and down the harbour. Well done to ‘Valhalla’ finishing first, and with a very fast time. ‘Opal Leaf’ was second, and great to have her back on the water. ‘Plum Crazy’ in third, also with a very quick time.

Dear members,

The club continues to raise funds for our upcoming development, with a very strong response with donations and wine sales to date. Thank you all for contributing!

Our next fundraising event is a raffle which has over $2000 in prizes (donated by club sponsors) and free activities such as water events, harbour cruises and more wine!

We will shortly be sending out a book of raffle tickets for each member to sell, with each book containing 30 tickets @ $5 per ticket. Please look for these in the mail (or we can arrange for pick-up at the club).

Please help us in selling these tickets as they are important to achieving our fundraising targets!

The raffle will be drawn at the clubs AGM in August 2026.

SUMMER SERIES: well done to all competitors who joined us for our second last summer series race. The weather was a moderate to fresh Westley with gusts to 25 kn which tested sailors on a very long race. Well done ‘Valhalla’, finishing in first place ahead of ‘Synergy’ and ‘Ruffiana’. Our final race of the series will be in two weeks time on Sunday, 26 April.

**2025-2026 TWILIGHT SERIES RESULT**
Sailors!

A big thank you to everyone who took part in our 2025–2026 Twilight Series. What a great series with some very memorable moments!

Congratulations to Sheer Bliss, our winners — well done to co-skippers Julie & Allan Matthews. In second place was Gramarye — congratulations to The Colonel. In third place was North Star — well sailed by Gordon Lacey and crew.

This was our biggest Twilight fleet yet, with up to 16 starters, and it was terrific to see so many sailors back at the club after racing for Russell’s infamous Roadkill Café.

We’re already hard at work scheming to make next season even better.
