These are just some of the sustainability issues you can have your say on as Greater Sydney Parklands works to develop our sustainability strategy.
We’d like to hear what matters most to you in the strategy, that will guide how we care for and improve our parks into the future, so they continue to support nature, community connection and people’s health and wellbeing.
Your feedback will help shape how we manage our parks, deliver programs and events, and work with partners to support a more sustainable future.

Here's what's been happening at Bush School in Callan Park, in the words of our facilitator Camille. 🌿
"Bush School sessions are all about connecting children with nature, with place, with others and with you — their family. Bush School is a little community responding in the moment, and over time, as seasons bring change and offer new things to discover. In autumn and winter we respond to the weather — make leaf kites on windy days and learn how to use sticks to build shelters. Even rain is fun when tarps are strung up and clay pots are made to collect the drops. A favourite is our fire session with a real campfire to keep us warm. Bush School inspires imagination and nature connection for all who come and it's wonderful fun."

It’s Earth Day! 🌍
Each year on 22 April, people around the world come together to recognise the importance of protecting our planet for future generations, with more than one billion people taking action across the globe. Earth Day is a reminder that small, everyday actions can make a real difference.
Here are some simple ways you can play your part while enjoying the park:
🧺 Bring what you need, enjoy your picnic, then take everything home with you. A clean park starts with each of us.
🌿 Stick to the paths and open lawns so the natural areas and plant life can keep doing their thing.
🐶 Out with your dog? Be mindful of others and clean up after them so everyone can enjoy the space.
Earth Day isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being aware. Small actions, shared by lots of people, make a real difference.

Big news for Callan Park! 🌿
The NSW Government has approved the final Callan Park Plan of Management 2026 – 2036, a landmark moment for one of Sydney's most loved and historically significant green spaces.
The plan outlines how Callan Park's 61 hectares will be revitalised over the next decade to better serve the growing Inner West community, while celebrating and protecting the site's deep historic significance as one of Sydney's earliest mental health facilities.
The plan outlines the actions required to protect, enhance, and activate Callan Park, ensuring it remains a valued public space and the "green heart" of inner Sydney for generations to come.
We consulted extensively with community groups, sporting organisations, heritage and history groups, First Nations stakeholders, government agencies, and individuals across the Inner West, and the feedback we received has been invaluable in shaping the final plan.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts, ideas, and vision for Callan Park. 💚
How has your feedback influenced the plan? 👉 Head to our What We Heard report. You can explore everything that's included in the final Plan of Management here: https://www.greatersydneyparklands.nsw.gov.au/plan-your-visit-callan-park/callan-park-projects/callan-park-plan-of-management
