To clear this up straight away - yes you can lose fat and build muscle at the same time.
And for anyone who thinks, you can’t. It’s because you are approaching the two things separately and probably not in the most ideal way.
I think it’s important to understand the reasoning why people believe you have to eat more to put on muscle. It comes from the fact that when you are eating more. it creates an environment where a lot of things you need to build muscle becomes easier to do. Train harder, more consistently, sleep better and less stress.
However, if you are able to actually hold onto these things as best as you can, losing fat and building muscle becomes possible.
It just comes with potentially a lot more “noise” and an environment where it may feel like it’s harder. You might run into lower energy levels, hunger, cravings, lower motivation and IF this starts to impact how adherent you are, thats why you aren’t able to do both.

We all know that we should be prioritising sleep however we don’t take it as seriously as we should. Maybe it’s because we undermine how much of an impact it has, I know I did at one point. And it was the reason I couldn’t progress in the gym or lose fat as well.
It’s like asking yourself would you rather play the game on level 1 or level 100?
Not prioritising our sleep affects:
-decision making
• increased hunger/cravings
• energy and mood throughout your day
• mental bandwidth
• motivation & adherence to your plan
• capacity to recover from gym (that’s if you even show up)
• overall stress levels are higher
(Harder to lose weight)
• decreased productivity
It’s the one thing that money can’t fix. And it’s the biggest thing in the way of getting you to where you want to be.
