Have you ever considered, how did you get here?
How did you get to where you are today?
The way that you think and behave today is based on your past.
As we grow and develop we begin to shape a view of ourselves, the world, and how we fit in.
These views are formed based on consequences!
The consequences of the choices, events, people, beliefs and values you've acquired on the journey.
So the way you see yourself, the world, and how you fit into it, directly impacts your thoughts and behaviours.
Hence, your leadership style is based on your past.
To identify areas for growth, complete self reflection exercises to objectively review your past and how you became the person you are today.
This will help you grow.
Coaching is the most accelerated way to develop personally and professionally because it compresses months or years of organic development into weeks.

The difference between leading people and managing them is that a leader inspires people to achieve common goals, while a micro manager dictates how people should do their work.
Leaders focus on WHY, Managers focus on HOW
Leaders empower their team members by providing them with the necessary tools and guidance, while managers often stifle creativity and discourage input from team members.
Leaders create a positive work environment where team members feel motivated to do their best, while managers often create an atmosphere of fear and mistrust.
When it comes to leading people, it is important to remember that people are more likely to follow someone who they feel is genuine and authentic, and who they feel has their best interests at heart.
Managers often come across as self-serving and self-interested, and people are less likely to trust or respect them.
If you want to be a successful leader, it is important to focus on inspiring and empowering your team members, rather than dictating what they should do.

Technical skills are necessary, but they're not always the most important thing when it comes to getting promoted. Particularly when moving to more senior roles.
Arguably, what really matters is how well you work with other people.
🤼 Are you a good team player?
🔈 Do you have good communication skills?
🤝 Can you resolve conflicts?
Those are the kinds of things that will help you move up the ladder.
Of course, you also need to be competent in your job and have a good work ethic.
But if you can't get along with others, it's going to be difficult to succeed in any organisation.
So, if you're looking to get promoted, focus on honing your people skills.

Whether you're leading a small team or a large corporation, one of the most important things to ask yourself is: does your team trust you?
Trust is essential for any team to function effectively, and it starts with the leader.
If your team doesn't trust you, they won't follow your lead.
They'll be reluctant to share their ideas and concerns, and they'll be less likely to work together to achieve collective goals.
So how can you build trust with your team?
It starts with being honest and transparent.
Share your own challenges and vulnerabilities, and let your team see that you're human. Be real with them, and don't try to hide your mistakes.
Instead, own up to them and show your team that you're learning from them.
Finally, be excited about your work and your team's potential. Show them that you believe in them, and they'll start to believe in themselves.
Trust is the foundation of any great team, so if you want yours to thrive, start by building trust.

Today is a gift, which is why we call it the present.
Every day is a new opportunity to seize the day and make the most of it.
There's no time like the present to achieve our goals and pursue our dreams.
So let's not waste any more time living in the past or worrying about the future.
Instead, let's focus on making today the best day possible.
After all, today is all we have, and it's up to us to make the most of it.

In life, we're either at cause or at affect.
When we're at affect, we're reacting to the events in our lives and letting them control us. This is what most people do. They wake up, go to work, come home, watch TV, and go to bed. They're on auto-pilot and they're not really living.
On the other hand, when we're at cause, we're in control of our lives. We're proactive instead of reactive. We decide what we want and then take action to make it happen.
This is a much better way to live because it puts us in control of our own destiny.
If you don't like the way your life is going, it's time to take charge and be at cause.
Here's how:
1) Wake up and take responsibility for your life.
2) Stop making excuses and start taking action.
3) Focus on what you want, not on what you don't want.
4) Get clear about your goals and put a plan together to achieve them.
5) Take massive action towards your goals.
6) Be persistent and never give up.
7) Celebrate your wins along the way.
If you do these things, you'll be amazed at how much control you have over your life and how quickly things start to change for the better.

One of the most important things in business is systems.
When the motivation runs out, it is systems that keep things moving forward.
For tech it's pretty clear, there are plenty of systems.
For people, it's habits.
Habits are great to focus on because when motivation runs out it's habits that will carry you and your team on the tough days.
Here's a quick approach we like to use:
1. Set the outcome, the big picture
2. Set the milestones along the way to achieving the outcome
3. Ask yourself and your team, what habits need to be in place daily, weekly and monthly for us to reach the next milestone together, easily?
And to make it easier for everyone to be motivated to apply the habits, make sure that each person connects the outcome to something personal for them.
When the team achieves the outcome, what will it mean for them?
For some people, it's money.
For others, it's recognition.
For others, it's making a difference.
Whatever it is, find it and hold onto it.
This is the thing that gets them excited, and that keeps them going.
This is the fuel for the habits that you've set.

Have you ever wondered how some athletes always seem to be in the zone, able to perform at their best when it matters most?
A big part of their success comes from a technique called visualisation.
By picturing themselves achieving their goals, athletes can train their minds and bodies to reach peak performance.
And there's no reason why you can't use visualisation to improve your own life.
Whether you want to get ahead at work, land your dream job, or simply overcome a personal challenge, visualisation can help you achieve your goals.
Here's how it works:
First, close your eyes and imagine yourself achieving your goal. What does it feel like? What do you see around you? Really take the time to immerse yourself in the experience.
Then, start to notice the small details that will help make it happen. What steps do you need to take? Who do you need to talk to?
Once you have a clear picture in your mind, start taking action in real life.
The more realistic and specific your visualisation, the more likely you are to achieve your goal.
So go ahead and give it a try - you might be surprised at what you can accomplish.

As anyone who has ever made a major life decision knows, it can be tough to know what to do.
Often, we feel like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place, and no matter what we choose, we're going to end up regretting it.
Fortunately, there is a framework that can help.
When making any decision, ask yourself three questions:
1. Is this non mission critical?
2. Is it reversible?
3. And can it be made quickly?
If the answer to all three is "yes," then in most cases you can go ahead and make the decision as quickly as possible.
The less time you spend agonising over it, the better.
And if you make a habit of doing this for non-critical decisions, you'll find that you have much more energy left over for the truly important ones.
So next time you're feeling stuck, remember: just ask yourself if it's mission critical, reversible, or quick.
Chances are, it's not all three, and you'll be able to make a decision quickly and confidently.

Overwhelm at work is pretty much inevitable without the right thinking. At some point, you're going to feel like you're drowning in a sea of deadlines, projects and demands. The key is to not let it take over. Here are a few tips for handling overwhelm:
1. Take a step back and assess the situation. What's causing the overwhelm? Is it a specific project? A new client? Once you identify the source, you can start to develop a plan for tackling it.
2. Make a list of what needs to be done and then prioritise. Trying to do everything at once is impossible and will only leave you feeling more overwhelmed. Focus on one thing at a time and you'll gradually start to check things off your list.
3. Delegate or ask for help when necessary. You can't do everything by yourself so don't be afraid to ask for help from your team or your boss. Delegating tasks will help lighten your load and get things done faster.
4. Take breaks when needed. If you're feeling overwhelmed, take a step away from whatever is causing the stress. Go for a walk, get some fresh air or take a few minutes to yourself to regroup.
After you've dealt with the immediate situation, one of the most important things you can do is to get clear on your values and priorities.
What's most important to you?
What do you value most in life?
When you know what's most important to you, it becomes much easier to set boundaries with others and say no to things that don't align with your values.
If you're not clear on your values, it's easy to say yes to everything, which leads to a feeling of being overwhelmed and out of control.
No matter what's causing your feelings of overwhelm, remember that you're not alone. And with a little effort, you can find ways to manage the overwhelm and get back on track.

One of the most critical parts of your brain is called the Reticular Activating System (RAS).
It serves as a mental filter for the 11 million bits of information that are streaming into our sensory systems at any one time.
If you're looking to buy a red car, you'll suddenly start noticing more and more red cars. This is the work of the RAS.
You can leverage your RAS to achieve goals faster.
But the RAS thinks in pictures, not words. A technique that activates the RAS is visualisation.
Visualising your goals feeds the RAS the pictures it needs to start filtering information differently.
As a result, your RAS will start to pay attention to anything that might help you achieve your goals – information that it otherwise might ignore.

When you're communicating, it's important to make sure that your message is clear. This can be a challenge, especially if you're speaking to someone who doesn't share your language or cultural background.
However, there are some steps you can take to ensure that your message comes across loud and clear.
1. Make sure that you're using language that is appropriate for your audience. Avoid jargon and technical terms unless you're sure that everyone will understand them.
2. Try to be concise and to the point. Don't ramble or get sidetracked; stick to the main point of what you're trying to say.
3. Pay attention to your body language and tone of voice. Smiling and maintaining eye contact can help make your message more understandable and approachable.
4. Avoid misunderstandings by using metaphors, which can help your audience visualise what you're saying. For example, if you're trying to explain how a new product works, you could say "it's like a mini version of [existing product]."
5. Assume your audience won't automatically understand everything you mean. For instance, if you're introducing a new concept, you might want to provide an example or analogy to help explain it.
By being clear in your communication, you can help ensure that your message is understood the way you intend.
