Conor Mcgregor said "Precision beats power, and timing beats speed".
We've learned that passion (and heaps of luck) beats talent...here's why.
3 years ago, we kicked off a creative journey, where we felt like a duck out of water. After persevering through the project, receiving knock backs from agencies & creative bodies because we didn't have the experience or 'runs on the board', we are so proud to say we now have a home for the project on ! Let us know what you think of the series!

Many people start following or playing the game after they watch the action, and the drama behind Cricket. I started playing because of one player – Sourav Ganguly. Watching him play used to inspire me, particularly that glorious cover drive.
Growing up my father loved Cricket as well, and always supported me to play the game. I currently run my own business and so I have the flexibility to play and follow the game a bit more.
The team I play for in Mumbai is a Jain Community team. I’ve grown up with the guys from a young age. left arm bowler, Right arm batsman.
This is probably not going to be popular in my country, but if I could have any cricketer in the world play for our side this weekend, it would probably be Steve Smith

I currently play state cricket in India under the BCCI. I represent my state Nagaland and grew up around Nagaland North Eastern. I’m an allrounder (right hand batter and pace bowler), that is lucky enough to focus solely on Cricket!
As a kid, I used to play cricket with my brother, and bowl to him. It was part of the fun when we were younger, but Cricket became a career almost accidentally. Two of my friends wanted to join the local cricket academy, and I took them to the venue to sign up. Little did I know that a few moments later I would sign up as well. I’m glad I did though, because after joining the Cricket Academy, I represented my state after two months! I’m so glad I did play and pick Cricket however, as I feel more self-independent, and the sport has already given me more than I could imagine.
My family is a huge support network for me, particularly my mom and my brother. I am where I am today, standing on both my feet because of them. They have always been proud of me, but are just as proud of me now.
The state of Nagaland doesn’t have a club cricket set up for women yet, but I hope it will soon and I would love to play a part in setting it up with my experience. With the exposure we’ve had already in the state set up, many girls in our state are getting inspired and are playing more and more cricket. I can’t wait until we have the teams and the infrastructure to support all the young girls and women in our state to play the sport.
If I could pick an international cricketer to fill in for the weekend, I probably wouldn’t because I love my team and they are all irreplaceable :P, but my favourite players in the world to watch right now are Aiden Markram, and Jofra Archer.

It was 1996. I was 8 years old, the Cricket World Cup was in our country (India), and the whole nation was glued to every ball on the screen! I remember first picking up a cricket bat during this time.
As I got older and became more involved with the game, my grandmother bought me my first cricket kit. I would’ve loved to become a professional cricketer, but I had to think about focusing on my education and career as well. I now work as an Assistant Manager in the Equity Markets, and despite having less time to follow and play the game, I still play as a part of a team in Mumbai because of my sheer passion and love towards the sport.
I try to contribute with both bat and bowl (as a right-handed bowler & batsman). Our team plays every Sunday. We bond quite well together, and particularly look forward to the after party where we have a beer with each other.
It’s very hard not to have a favourite cricketer that is not Indian. Growing up Sachin Tendulkar was an inspiration across many generations. But, if I could have any cricketer in the world to play a game for our team, it would have to be Virat Kohli. I think we would both show the same amount of passion, emotion and intensity on the field.

“From a young age we always played cricket in the front yard with my brothers. My parents got us little cricket sets when we were babies and it has gone from there. “ - Jonathon Neasey
Your everyday bloke that loves a nice cold beer, fishing with mates and weekend Cricket, shares his love for the game with us this week.
“From a young age we always played cricket in the front yard with my brothers. My parents got us little cricket sets when we were babies and it has gone from there. My parents took us to training every week, and then did the trip again on weekends for our games. It wasn’t just Cricket though, we all had winter sports so they’d do the same for soccer early on, but then Rugby League as I got older.”
“Our weekend cricket team are made up of a great bunch of blokes. We’ve built a great team, and we’ve played together for a long time. We have the perfect mix of playing competitive cricket, whilst also enjoying the social side with plenty of banter & beers. Winters are different as I don’t see them as often, but lucky we’ve got the footy on tv to keep us occupied!”
The self professed NRL Supercoach King opens the batting for his weekend team and has a top score of 200+!
“I’m pretty much the token white guy of the team. There’s a lot of diversity in our team, and we’re all there from different walks of life but get along so well. My greatest achievement isn’t anything on the field, it’s that I stay up the latest on Cricket trips….every time”
