De La Salle Kingsgrove CC is saddened to hear the news of the passing of Thomas 'Tommy' Mysak.

Thomas Mysak, born on 24 October 1951, grew up on Caroline Street Kingsgrove (just up from the school), and played all of his cricket with De La Salle.

Tom was a member of our inaugural 1st Grade team and holds player number #4. During his distinguished career, he scored 2,197 runs at an average of 14.17, took 387 wickets at an average of 13.37 (still the club's sixth-highest wicket-taker), and held 102 catches.

He won the Mark Pomfrett Shield on four occasions and was named Cricketer of the Year in 1975/76. Throughout his years of service, Tom also received numerous team and Association awards in recognition of his outstanding performances and commitment to the club.

Tom captained many De La Salle teams, served on both the club committee and selection committee, took one hat-trick, and was a member of five premiership-winning sides, including the club's inaugural 1st Grade Premiership team.

Tom passed away a few days ago, 31 July 2026, at the age of 74.

On behalf of everyone at De La Salle Cricket Club, we extend our sincere condolences to Tom's family and friends. His contribution to our club and its history will always be remembered. Rest in peace, Tom.

Here are some words from life member Jim Bergin:

"Tommy along with the Sidies, Molloys, Connors, Irelands, Dohertys, Doyles, Dennys, Buckleys & others was instrumental in getting De La moving in the early days not only as a player, but a committee man and helper. His family home in Caroline St, opposite Dowsett Park was always available for committee meetings & the storage of gear in the offseason. Might not mean much these days, but was most valuable in the 60s/70s. So were the bars in the Kingsgrove RSL & the Bennelong Hotel for our frequent discussions about cricket.

Tommy was a good athlete who excelled in a number of sports. He also captained our teams in various grades over the years. In closing, a fond memory is the year we were fortunate to win both 1st and 2nd grade. Memory tells me it was around 1976/77 or around then. 1st grade finished early on the second day, and 2nd grade, captained by Tommy secured victory late on day 2. No mobile phones then, we only knew the result when Tommy proudly led his team into our drinking area downstairs at the PBC. We drank the joint dry that evening πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

The memories are many. Vale Tommy, go well mate."
