Thank you, Paul! It’s a pleasure to receive a piece of your art and thanks for the training too 🙏
Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu is an authentic Japanese martial art, specialising in traditional and contemporary techniques, as taught by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi.
Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu consists of nine traditional Japanese martial art styles. Practised by both samurai and ninja alike, these arts were passed down through the generations to current Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi. Anthony Bray-Heta head instructor of Bujinkan Northern Beaches, demonstrates the varied forms of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, using hand to hand and traditional weapons as well as some techniques adapted for modern street self defence.

Banpen Fugyō
In Buddhism, life teaches us that adapting doesn't mean giving up, or losing your north, but having the ability to be resilient and flexible in the face of the unexpected. Just as in combat we cannot always control the opponent or the circumstances, in life we cannot stop change either.
The Greek philosopher Heraclitus expressed that “change is the only constant in life.” This truth also permeates Buddhism and Ninpō: techniques, moments and people transform, but the essential remains in the heart of the practitioner. Adapting without losing course is accepting that transformation without renouncing core values or the deeper purpose of the path.
Resilience in Buddhism is rising after every fall, learning from every mistake, and overcoming adversity without breaking your spirit.
Flexibility is adjusting our actions and strategies like bamboo that bends in the wind, but never breaks.
Continuous learning is leaving behind old ways, unlearning the useless, and opening up to new understandings that enrich our training and our life.
Thus, we are reminded that change is not a threat, but an opportunity to polish our character. By cultivating an open mindset, the warrior learns to evolve in harmony with life's constant transformation, standing firm in his purpose without losing the essence of his path.
Banpen Fugyō is one of the most profound expressions conveyed by Sōke Masaaki Hatsumi. It is commonly translated as: "Ten thousand changes, no surprise" or "Before the countless transformations, don't be confused."
In life, everything is in constant motion: circumstances change, people change, our own body and spirit transform. In the face of those "ten thousand mutations", the true warrior keeps his heart calm, not being shaken by fear or surprise.
Remember that on and off the Tatami, adapting without losing course is the true art of the warrior: walking between flexibility and firmness, between change and permanence, with a heart that knows how to stay at peace in the midst of the storm.
