Boooooom.!!!

It’s great to be out meeting locals and business owners, doing what they do.

Losh Matthews (big unit, second from the left) lives in Kirrawee and runs a small business in the Shire – a gym and boxing academy with a difference. He’s developed technology that uses sensors to register contact and electronically score bouts. Ground-breaking innovation, right here in the Shire.

Contact is light and he’s made the sport more accessible to all members of the community – kids, women, and men. Even the men here he calls 'Dad's Army.'

“It’s all about bringing people together,” he says. He spoke about how his business promotes physical and mental health, goal setting, resilience and friendships.

He also told me that he once went to see a local MP and was “Shown the door. Didn’t want to know about me or my business.”

Our community is full of good people with great ideas, who genuinely want to improve the lives of others. In return, they just want someone to represent them on the things that are important, and who works hard to provide the best for them.

I’m glad I took the time today to listen.

(And glad I only stepped in the ring for a photo.)
