Pre-Season strength is a game changer … literally 😉

Scarlett, 15 years, is building a solid foundation for her upcoming season by working on Movement quality, Strength and Resilience to support performance and reduce injury risk.

As a Level 2 Associate Strength and Conditioning Coach, sessions are tailored to the athlete’s age, injury history and sport, with long-term development staying at the focus.

🎯 4 months ago, Jason came in with right knee pain. His main concerns were pain during squats and stair climbing.
Today, he’s lifting 120kg on the trap bar, pain-free 💪🏼
Consistent rehab and patience has paid off. Nice work Jason!

Ankle Rehab ✔️

This patient had a ligament reconstruction in Nov 2024 and is now working through the later stages of her rehab!

Her program today:
✔️Mobility checks (knee-to-wall)
✔️Strength loading (single-leg press, calf raises)
✔️Dynamic control (reformer running, single-leg RDL)

Every session builds strength, balance, and confidence, helping her return to the activities she loves. 💪

Here are industry tips for some of the most common barriers I see my clients struggle with:

Too much too soon:
To put it simply for why this doesn't work; your mind was ready, your body was not.
Instead, focus on small doses of exercise with a high frequency.
This will ensure your body can cope throughout the week. And the next. And the next.

Mindset:
It’s not an easy thing to overcome, but looking at each session as a chore will make this process way harder than it needs to be.
To overcome this, choose exercises that are most appealing and most convenient to you.
If you have a busy schedule, try to involve minimal travel and preparation time. This will ensure there are less barriers to participation, making the habit more likely to stick.

Keep active during the day:
A common oversight that should be placed as high importance is your daily activity levels. Finding opportunities to accumulate activity can be a game changer in improving your health status.

Routine:
Sticking to a routine is paramount for long-term behaviour change. I always encourage my clients to spend the first few weeks establishing a routine; Pick exercising days and stick to it, no matter what.

Accountability:
Research continuously points to accountability. This could be with an EP or a friend, or both.

Osteoporosis is a silent condition that affects the strength (bone mineral density) of our skeletal system.

This is particularly prominent in:
- Postmenopausal women
- Those who are extremely inactive, malnourished or underweight
-Those who have undergone certain cancer treatments

If you are at risk of low bone mineral density or have already been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, talk to a professional about correct and effective treatment modalities.
