Some fun throwing the 6/0 HIKARI HEADS and our prototype jerk shad around at the FADs for some kings. They were loving the subtle, natural colour & arguably more aggressive than the Mahi 💥 Starting to feel pretty good about this plastic!

Coming into Winter has always been our favourite time of year. As the weather cools, it feels as if the fishing only gets better. The estuaries have a plethora of action, with Mulloway, Flathead, Bream and Trevally all feeding on large schools of whitebait and prawns. Pelagics show up along the coast and inside harbours, Snapper start moving into the shallow reefs and headlands. East Coast anglers are simply spoiled with choice. One thing we often recommend is taking the time to observe the type and size of bait in your local system, taking note of how they behave and where they show up so you know you’re matching the hatch on each opportunity to get out with rod in hand. The bait changes quickly during the transition into Winter and matching your lure size/ profile to what is abundant will often pay dividends.
We’re in the midst of a restock and itching to get out there over the coming weeks. There is a small amount of different lures / jig heads still available on the store, many pertect for the colder months where a subtle and slower action can entice the bite. Our next restock will be Late May so if you’re thinking about it, jump in while you can.

Whilst only a school Mulloway, this fish really stuck with me...
and I had been watching several fish gouging themselves on prawns & whitebait on the surface, after stealthily positioning the boat we worked a prototype plastic — rigged on a 3/0 Hikari Head — back against the current to maximise sink time.
First cast, I watched this fish fly out from under cover and engulf the lure within a second of it hitting the surface.
An awesome reminder of just how aggressive and agile these fish can be when they’re in the mood to feed — and definitely encouraging when the lure is still going through its testing💥
