This week the club said farewell to Craig “Bingo” Burke and Sean Ryan who are both returning home after many years down under.

Since joining the club, both lads have shown what a true club man is by giving up countless hours in helping us on and off the field. They played pivotal roles in the senior men’s team over the years. Craig played a huge part in developing our ladies team which began in 2025, was involved in the planning of many events and fundraisers that were organised and also was part of 2 Melbourne 7s panels. Sean who also had a huge involvement in many events that were planned over the years also gave up his time to referee some major games in the NSW campaign.

Great club men who will be sadly missed and from everyone in the Bondi Gaels community we wish them all the best in the future! 🔵⚪️

What a weekend at the Melbourne 7s 💙🤍

Well done to our mens and ladies 7s panels who did the club so proud and gave it everything they had 🏐🙌🏻

The ladies started the tournament with a deserved win over the Perth based Southern Districts winning 2:05 to 1:02. This was followed up with an incredible victory against Eastern Celts with a final score of 8:06 to 1:00. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for the girls to proceed to the semi finals as Perth’s Morley Gaels had a much more significant points difference to advance from the group.

For the men, their day started with a win against Greenwood GFC winning out 3:10 to 3:05. The lads went into their second game against Young Irelands needing a win to progress out of the group. A tense battle throughout the game came down to a last minute deciding kick from John Dunne as Bondi ran out winners on a score line of 0:09 to 0:08. Bondi faced another Sydney based team, Cormac McAnallens in the last 4 but ultimately had too much for the lads as they won 2:10 to 1:04 and eventually went on to win the 7s title.

We would like to thank all our members and supporters who made the trip down to Melbourne and showed incredible support throughout the day for the mens and ladies games.
