Whilst the sun may be setting on the time of Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club our members were never going to let the club go out on a whimper.
Last weekend in tricky conditions at IRONMAN in Cairns sensational Sally Taggart dominated F55-59, Simon Hatlee was as strong as an ox and hard working young Nic Duell-ferguson had a dream debut.
In the 70.3 Tim Lindop was awesome right across the board for third M50-54, just pipping PB3 Racing supremo Chris Hanrahan in the race then dominating all comers in post race celebrations. Special mention also to our own Scarlett Pimpernel Mitch Martin-Weber as well as Kirsten Lodge for their solid efforts in the tough conditions.
Meanwhile at the West Head ITT run by Warringah Triathlon Clubt and Manly Warringah Cycling Club Britt Kjemhus Welander had a fantastic debut to finish second overall in the 45k event whilst Mark Preston had all the Seniors Card holders covered in the 25k event in freezing conditions.
Special mention also to Dawn Hillier-Davis and Kevin Davis for their outstanding contribution to the recent Tour De South Coast.
No surprise also to see young Bella Walley continuing to improve in leaps and bounds, especially in her cycling efforts where she is on fire under the careful eyes of Randwick Cycling Club.
Train Safe, Race Hard and donβt get bitter just get better
Cheers, Presto

Not a month goes by without some outstanding performances from the members of Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club.
Without a doubt the standout performance was from young rising star Bella Walley who captured the 14-15 years Triathlon NSW Sprint title recently at the Port Stephens Triathlon (duathlon actually due to rough seas). Bella leads our charge this coming weekend at the Club Championships being held in Forster.
Well done also to lightly raced Guy Miller at Port Stephens for his solid Sprint race as well where it took eight competitors to beat him in the M50-54 category.
Our PB3 Racing team were out in force recently at the Sydney 10k where some good times were posted by Chris Hanrahan, Simon Hatlee, Ian Hemmings and evergreen Sally Taggart in the lead up to IRONMAN in Cairns in June
There were also plenty of sightings of our 4SEAsons Swim crew at multiple ocean swims across town. Massive congratulations also to smiling Sam Playfair for conquering the tough Bondi to Watsons Bay swim last weekend in pretty bumpy conditions
Ever Consistent Tsumi Smith was on fire as usual at the slightly interrupted Byron Bay Triathlon and nothing could stop her taking out F40-44 in the Olympic Distance Event
Huge congratulations to Dawn Hillier-Davis and Kevin Davis who successfully tackled the gruesome Ultra-Trail Australia 50k event in freezing conditions at the Blue Mountains
Great effort also by Justin Wendemuth, who despite some bad luck with injuries, was able to break a pancake eating record in Melbourne recently off the back of a high volume training camp load.
Train safe and Race hard!
Cheers, Presto

Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members have been out and about in recent weeks across a variety of events starting with the Peoplecare Wollongong Triathlon Festival where in form athletes Tim Lindop and Tsumi Smith had great standard distance races to both place second in their categories whilst Kate Olivia Wholohan had an outstanding sprint race. Tsumi maintained her form the following week to place an exceptional 5th from 77 at the Australian Olympic Distance Championships taking place as part of the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival.
Later in the month Zoe Little flew the 4SEAsons Swim Flag at the Coogee Island Swim Challenge, while Kirsten Lodge was on fire at last weekend`s BRAT Club race at Heffron Park.
Meanwhile busy young Bella Walley has been doing us proud at Triathlon NSW Junior Academy events and is set to fly the flag for us at the upcoming Triathlon NSW Club Championships 2021 Forster in May.
Also taking place last weekend was the highly competitive SLSA Australian Masters Championships at Maroochydore where your club`s oldest members Cyril Baldock and Mark Preston proudly represented Bondi Surf Club. Cyril Baldock was outstanding to win the M75 plus 2k Open water swim and Surf Race plus take 3rd place in the gruelling 1k Beach Run. Mark Preston swam a solid 2k to place 3rd in M65-69 and also recorded 8th place in the very tricky Surf Race.
In other news many members were disappointed to hear of the deferral of Ironman Australia and Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie but some have not let their training go to waste by proactively entering IRONMAN in Cairns and 70.3. Special mention to young Nic Duell-ferguson, who is showing huge determination along with many of his PB3 Racing mates.
Farewell to Claire Crennan, who is in chase of her dreams and heading to Europe and great to see smiling Sam Playfair sporting our club kit at every available opportunity.
Train Safe and Race Hard!

Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members were out in force at the recent Shimano Husky Triathlon Festival with plenty of outstanding performances across the range of events. It was great to see so many of our Plus Performance and PB3 Racing guys in action.
Well done to Simon Hatlee for a great 4.49 in the Ultimate and to Claire Crennan for toughing it out as well. Commiserations to Aquabiker in waiting Ian Hemmings who swam and biked brilliantly before suffering a calf injury and tough as teak Kay Poletto who crashed on the very congested bike course as the already crowded Ultimate event on its final lap merged with the Classic event on its first lap - not to mention a few frustrated residents taking to their cars on Woolamia Road to create more chaos.
Huge congratulations to Tim Lindop for his M50-54 victory in the Classic event and Kirsten Lodge for her determination.
In the Aquabike event which served as the Australian Aquabike Champs and a World Champs qualifier, Mark Preston was victorious in M65-69 in a time that would have had him on the podium in most of the younger age groups as well. He held this form the following week at the NSW Aquabike Championships held at Pottsville to win M65-69 by over 30 minutes.
Meanwhile in Western Australia, Chris Hanrahan contested the Transcape swim/run event whilst 4SEAsons Swim supremo Zoe Little was battling it out at the Bondi Blue Water Challenge and further north at Mooloolaba Tsumi Smith put in a huge effort at the Australian Standard Distance Championships.
Cyril Baldock was again unbeatable at the NSW SLSA Masters State Championships at Swansea Belmont where he won a multitude of M75 plus events for his beloved Bondi SBSLSC. Bella Walley has being going from strength to strength with the wonderful Junior Academy program of Randwick Cycling Club.
Only a few weeks out until the Peoplecare Wollongong Triathlon Festival 2021 and let`s hope things stay on track for Ironman Australia and Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie but more importantly, the residents of this great community who are doing it tough at the moment.
Train safe and race hard

This weekend sees the 16th running of the Shimano Husky Triathlon Festival and Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members will be out in force at the premier event on the Triathlon NSW race calendar. There are Australian Championship titles on the line in the Ultimate and Aquabike events where
We will have some serious contenders including those from our Plus Performance and PB3 Racing crews who have been training the house down and will also feature in sprint, classic and teams events. Good luck to all competitors and remember it is not how you start but how you finish that counts.
While the racing scene has been relatively quieter than usual, our members including Sally Taggart, Nick Duel-Ferguson, Blake Moloney and Mark Preston have been making the most of what is on offer at various club races both in Sydney and Noosa.
Huge congratulations also to Tsumi Smith for yet another victory at the Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon Olympic Distance event last Sunday.
Our 4SEAsons Swim crew have been carving up oceanswims like the Cole Classic, Malabar Magic and Bondi Bluewater Challenge under the guidance of Zoe Little and young gun Bella Walley has been on fire at junior development races around the state as well as at Randwick Cycling Club events where she is progressing in leaps and bounds.
Alise Croft had a great 10k victory at the recent Sydney Trailrunning Series - Manly Dam event whilst twin sister Maia Croft is swimming like a fish in Merewether.
Speedy recovery to Swedish sensation Britt Kjemhus Welander after a cycling accident. Britt has the physical and mental toughness to be back in action and on the podium in no time flat.
Great also to see so many members out and about in our new kit at training and races
Train safe and race hard

The Shimano Husky Triathlon Festival is looming and it is looking like over half our membership base will be contesting this hugely popular event based on the number of entries that have been made by Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members to date
While racing has been scarce in recent weeks, there have still been some outstanding results!
At the Callala Triathlon Festival Triathlon New South Wales poster girl Claire Crennan was sixth female overall to place 3rd F30-34, closely followed by Swedish Sensation Britt Kjemhus Welander, who dominated F45-49 as well as Kay Poletto. In the Open Aquabike event, 66 year-old Mark Preston dished out a swim/bike master class to win by 3 minutes and 39 years which sent his fellow competitors packing to the House of Mirrors to take a long hard look at themselves.
Also racing the house down and doing us proud is young Bella Walley who has been on the road more than Willie Nelson to contest the Biligence Pathway Series events across the state as well as flying on the cycle track with Randwick Cycling Club.
In the ocean, Zoe Little and her 4SEAsons Swim crew have contested every ocean swim possible including last weekend`s North Bondi Rough Water Classic.
Not to be outdone and despite a hectic work schedule, Anel Radford has made the Pro League in the world of Zwift Racing where she will captain Team Venom. This is serious stuff with team members having FTPs of 4.5 wpkg or better and racing for real money. The team is under the expert and fastidious guidance of club member Adam Radford who has won the position of Directeur Sportif.
Away from racing, our Plus Performance and PB3 Racing members have been doing some serious training with numerous sightings of Susan King, Sam Playfair and Kirsten Lodge in the Snowy Mountains region early in 2021.
In other news, huge congratulations are in order as Petros Macarounas and Chanel Gallen chalk up another engagement from our affiliated dating agency Performance By 3 to add to Todd Robertson`s helicopter hire engagement surprise last year from which recent reports show he is still celebrating.
There have also been some high profile 50th Birthday celebrations lately including Britt Kjemhus Welander, Mayor of Bronte Carlo and well known Sir Lunchalot Dave Rowe. Last but not least the double barrelled celebration for twins Alise Croft and Maia Croft - which is still in full flight and will require a holiday to make a full recovery. Congratulations to all!
Train safe and race hard
Cheers, Presto

As the light begins to shine at the end of the tunnel in this new covid world it is great to see that nothing has inhibited Eastern Suburbs Triathlon Club members competing in whatever events have been able to take place or getting ready to compete in the events that are just around the corner.
Congratulations to Kay Poletto for her recent podium at the 2020 Port Stephens Triathlon Festival and to Kevin Davis and Dawn Hillier-Davis for their great efforts at the Sydney Tail Series. Awesome work as well from young Bella Walley at the Biligence Pathway Championships hosted recently by Orange Cycle and Triathlon Club.
Well done also to the PB3 Racing crew who last weekend said farewell to 2020 by running marathons and half marathons along Brighton Le Sands with special mention to Ian Hemmings who recorded a PB despite his ripe old age as well as a lean and mean Simon Hatlee along with our champion of champions Sally Taggart. Next up is the PB3 Racing Summer Camp being held in early January 2021 where what happens at camp stays at camp.
Our 4SEAsons Swim crew have not let the lack of official ocean swim events deter their enthusiasm as Zoe Little continues to organize pop up swims all over Sydney with great attendance numbers. Also well done to Gordon Campbell and his Plus Performance crew who have been flying around Centennial Park recently.
Special mention to Cyril Baldock who recently collected his Order of Australia Medal at Government House, Sydney but unfortunately was barred from singing at the celebration .
Great effort also by Kate Olivia Wholohan who recently completed a gruelling gravel bike adventure around country NSW .
Best of luck also to Amy Maxwell after her recent shoulder surgery and it is certain we all just want to wish her well
This weekend we will be represented at the Tomaree Triathlon Club Dave Swan Memorial race and the following weekend at the Elite Energy Events Callala Bay Triathlon .
Fantastic news also for those that were able to secure entry to the Energy Shimano Husky Australian Triathlon Championship 2021, even if it required taking out a second mortgage. This great event always attracts the most Eastern Suburbs members and we nearly always punch above our weight.
Your hoodies and swim caps are on the way.
Train safe and race hard.
Cheers, Presto
