Donate to Support Heba & her family during this critical time, organized by Kristen Preston 05/05/2026

This has deeply shocked not only our community, but many others as well. One of our instructors is currently in ICU at Wollongong Hospital, on life support.

We ask that you please take a moment to read the story below and support this beautiful family during an incredibly difficult time. As a community, we will also work together to help them find a path forward and become self-sufficient.

You’ll see both small and large donations, every single one matters. The response so far has been truly overwhelming, and when you read Heba’s story, you’ll understand why.
Heba is deeply loved, and that love is now being reflected in the support surrounding her and her family.

HEART-BREAKING STORY

On Sunday 26th April, Heba suffered a sudden medical emergency while playing with her beloved Woonona Sharks at Ocean Park. She was urgently transported to Wollongong Hospital, where she went into cardiac arrest shortly after arrival. Heba was intubated and admitted to the ICU, where doctors discovered blood clots in her lungs, resulting in a lack of oxygen to her brain.

Since that day, Heba and her family have been facing an incredibly difficult and uncertain journey. Despite the tireless efforts of her medical team, Heba has not responded to treatment as hoped. She remains in a medically induced coma, with her loved ones close by, as doctors have indicated that she may not regain consciousness.
We are reaching out to our community to support a beautiful local family experiencing one of the most heartbreaking times imaginable.

Heba is the heart of her family - a devoted wife to Khaled, a loving mother to Adam and Emmie, and deeply cherished by her extended loving family. Together, Heba and Khaled have been building a life, raising their two wonderful children and creating a home filled with care, generosity, and love.

Heba has always been someone who gives to others without hesitation. Through her role with the SES Wollongong Finance team, she has supported emergency response efforts and helped communities during times of crisis. She is an integral part of the Woonona Football Club and, like many who love the game, a big fan of Liverpool Football Club. She is also a passionate and dedicated black belt who trains with United Taekwondo. Alongside this, Heba co-owns Oz Wedding Photography with Khaled, capturing life’s most meaningful moments for others. She also loves creating beautiful cakes through My Cake Creations - a talent that brought her happiness and brightened the lives of those around her.

She is truly one of the most selfless and compassionate people you could meet - always the first to show up for others in their time of need.

Now, it is her family who needs that same support.

Heba has been the primary income earner for her family, and with her now in hospital the family now faces complete uncertainty. Khaled is doing everything he can to support their children while carrying the emotional weight of this devastating situation. With ongoing living expenses, including rent, the financial pressure is immediate and overwhelming.

During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for your support to help ease the financial burden on Khaled - allowing him to focus on what matters most: being by Heba’s side.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page and keeping Heba and her family in your thoughts means just as much.
This is a family who has given so much to others in times of crisis. Now, it’s our turn to stand beside them.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.

HELP NEEDED URGENTLY

To all United Taekwondo Families,

One of our long-term Bradbury students and his family recently suffered a devastating loss when their home was destroyed by fire last week. They escaped with only the clothes they were wearing — it happened on our student’s 11th birthday. 💔 They are all suffering smoke inhalation, and mum injured her shoulder badly when running out of the house.

The family includes a single mum, her 11-year-old son, and his nanna. The mum is a full-time carer for both her son, who has special needs, and her elderly mother, who lives with dementia. Her only income is a carer’s payment, and this tragedy has left them with nothing.

They are currently searching for a small apartment to rent, and we are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers as they try to rebuild their lives.

I’m reaching out to our wider United Taekwondo community to ask for your help. Once they find a new place to live, they will need essential items such as a fridge, washing machine, dining table and chairs, beds and bedding, towels, cookware, and other household basics.

Any donations — whether items or monetary contributions — will make a meaningful difference and help this family begin to rebuild. Together, our care and compassion can turn heartbreak into hope.

If you are able to contribute in any way, please message me.

Let’s come together and make a difference 🥋❤️

Kind regards,

Kay Mitchell
