Downlands College and Glennie School.

The girls from the Glennie School Toowoomba leave today for home and they can very pleased with their 6th place amongst very strong opposition. They immersed themselves in the whole world experience while at SANIX 2026 and we can all be proud of their efforts.
Today our attention turned to the boys final pool game against Windhoek Gymnasium, Namibia to see who would play in the decider finals.

The game was played in blustery conditions and was nil all at half time. Playing with the wind in the second half Downlands scored 19 unanswered points to win 19/0. They have finished third in their pool and await the draw for the next stage.

The first day of competition at SANIX 2026 has concluded with mixed fortunes for the Australian teams. Downlands College fought long and hard today in the boys competition against Oita Tomei High School, Japan, for 43 to 5 loss. The girls from the Glennie School lost their first match against Kanto Gakuin Mutsuura High School 45 to nil. Then they battled hard all match for 43 to nil loss against Otemon Gakuin High School. However, to finish the day the girls from The Glennie rampaged the field to win 53 to 0 against Queen Margaret' School from Canada.

All teams look forward to the matches tomorrow, when the teams will play other nations from around the world.

UPDATE- Team list and team photo included in comments. Thanks everyone for your comments, and to Brad Bishop for the clipping.

Help requested from rugby buffs in the know.

Matraville High School won its first of 5 Waratah Shields in 1972 (followed by 1976, 1977, 1983, 2007). I am after anyone who has a team list of this winning Matraville team from 1972.

Coached by Geoff Mould and led by Russell Fairfax, Matraville were runners up in the Waratah Shield to Epping Boys in 1969. Russell was in the Australian Schoolboys who toured South Africa in 1969 and the Australian Schoolboys who toured New Zealand in 1970, playing his first test for the Wallabies in 1971.

If anyone has a team list of the 1972 team, please send it over or include it in the comments.

Below is the Matraville team which won in 1976. Nine played in the NSW 1 and NSW 2 team at Australian Championships held at TG Milner.
