Had a great dojo birthday party to celebrate 10 years of Petersham dojo and 30 years of training Kyokushin. The people in this picture (apart from me) are 5 of the 7 blackbelts I've taught over the years. It takes a long time and dedicated training to get to black belt.

I've been teaching at Newtown North PS now for 26 years and the two leftmost started in the Newtown kids' class, and and Senpai Ben and Senpai Shigemi on the right started in the adult class because her sons were training. She's still here after almost 18 years but her boys aren't.

What also made it special here was that the three senpai on the left gave me that bottle of wine for my 50th birthday - been holding on to THAT one for a loooong time!
