2024-2025 Presentation Night Reminder

A reminder that there will be no swim club at the pool tonight due to our 2024-2025 Season presentation evening. The presentation will be held at Matraville Youth and Cultural Hall (1-5 Knowles Avenue) at 6.15PM for a 6.30 start.

Please note that awards will be presented to those that were club members for the 2024 - 2025 season (1 Oct 24 to 30 Sept 25), and although new club members are welcome to attend, they will not be eligible to receive awards.

The parents of swimmers who have an award for presentation this evening gave been notified by email

Highlights from the 2 day CASC Summer Meeting 9 & 10 November 2024:
25 Swimmers representative with 71 PBs !!!

1. Fourteen Young Talent on Display: The swimmers from our club (Addison, Alice, Andrei, Bill, Colette, Fred, Isla, Jules, Juliette, Léa, Lila, Olivia, Siloe, Tenison) put in remarkable performances, with no disqualifications in any of their races. Their times were truly impressive!

2. Two New Qualifiers for the Junior Metro Championships:
- Alicja (100m Breaststroke) and Sophie (50m Breaststroke) both secured qualifying times (QTs) for the 2024 DOOLEYS NSW Junior Metropolitan Championships, set to take place from Saturday 23/11/2024 to Sunday 24/11/2024.

3. Two Swimmers, Scarlett and Roman Qualifies for Senior State Age Championships:
- Scarlett achieved the QT in the 50m Freestyle, Roman achieved the QT in 50m Butterfly for the 2024-25 Speedo NSW Senior State Age Championships, scheduled from Friday 6/12/2024 to Thursday 12/12/2024.

4. Relay Success:
- Four swimmers, Augustin, Benjamin, Clovis, and Roman delivered outstanding performances, achieving QTs for two relay events:
- 4x50m Freestyle Relay: Recorded a time of 2:00.29 (QT: 2:06).
- 4x50m Medley Relay: Featuring Benjamin (Backstroke), Roman (Breaststroke), Augustin (Butterfly), and Clovis (Freestyle), with a time of 2:18.65 (QT: 2:20).
Both relay teams are now qualified for the 2024-25 Speedo NSW Senior State Age Championships.

5. Additional Strong Performances from 4 other swimmers:
- In addition to the impressive performances by these 21 swimmers, I also witnessed solid times and impressive personal bests (PBs) from the other DRLC Maroubra SC swimmers, including Chiara, Julia, Valentina and Emmeline.

Memberships for the 2024-2025 (from 1st October) season are now available.
To renew, or create a new membership log on to swimcentral.swimming.org.au, select the Store, select Memberships and search for DRLC Maroubra.
Due to increases in pricing from Swimming Australia and Swimming NSW, we have had to increase our membership fees for this season to $135 per swimmer. Of that cost, the club will receive around $29.12 which represents around 73c per club night
Second claim memberships are also available at a cost of $75

As the numbers of swimmers at club night has increased, we've needed to start enforcing qualifying times for each of our strokes and distances

This means that :
For freestyle 50M, you will be expected to be below 25 sec for 25M
For freestyle 100M, you will be expected to be below 42 sec for 50M

For backstroke 50M, you will be expected to be below 30 sec for 25M
For backstroke 100M, you will be expected to be below 48 sec for 50M

For breastroke 50M, you will be expected to be below 33 sec for 25M
For breastroke 100M, you will be expected to be below 50 sec for 50M

For butterfly 50M, you will be expected to be below 27 sec for 25M
For butterfly 100M, you will be expected to be below 40 sec for 50M

For 100IM, you will be expected to be below 1.20 for 50IM
For 200IM, you will be expected to be below 2 min for 100IM

This means that some swimmers may find themselves entered for different races to those that they were entered for.
