It's the June Long Weekend!
A reminder there are no regular games for SJRU Juniors, Minis or Schools or IPSHA 7s. Seniors (Shute Shield/Premiership/Subbies) have the weekend off too, while only the Brumbies and Reds are flying the flag for Aussie rugby in Super Rugby Pacific this week. 😢
But how good was it to see the Aussie Women & Men's 7s triumph in Spain this week? Catch up the games from semi-finals on over on Stan Sport - amazing! 🇦🇺🥇x 2
But wait there is more! The NSW Junior State Championships are on this weekend around the state and SNRR has 17 representatives running out as MOs or MODs. Congratulations on their selection and go well:
U12 Forster

Huge weekend of debuts in Minis, the return of Tim to the field, McKay at McKay oval, the MOD squad supporting our referees and Mental Health Round where the odd socks started a conversation about mental health with players and supporters.

If you are turning 13 or older this year & keen to develop yourself, while getting paid to be part of the game you love then join your local Referee Association, Sydney North Rugby Referees.

The introductory course is "Referee Ready" and below are the courses in our area (with more to come):
- 15 March @ Knox School
- 18 March @ Shore School
- 19 March @ Wahroonga Rugby
- 22 March @ Forest Rugby

Register in Rugby Xplorer (RX) for “Sydney North Referees” as a “Match Official” to receive your on field gear plus coaching and education.     https://myaccount.rugbyxplorer.com.au

Then enrol for the course in the RX Learning Centre - select "Game Facilitator", search for "Referee Ready" and select the best course date for you

How good was the Kiama 7s on the weekend?
Some of our SNRR members experienced high level tournament 7s, competently AR'ing for NSW Rugby Refs senior referees.

Congratulations to our SNRR members selected for Sydney Youth Referee Academy (SYRA) in 2026.

SYRA is NSWRU’s referee development program for youth referees in Sydney. It is a multi-year program for 15–18-year-old referees dedicated to expanding their rugby horizon.

If you know one of these members, give them a tag and shout out!
