At Keeper HQ we have been lucky enough to train some of the best keepers in the country in both the Male and Female space including Dion Kalogiros who joined the program 2 years ago and wanted to try being a keeper and learn all of aspects of the game that he has played since 2016 . Many know Dion from the AWD space. Dion was born with a sporadic, rare condition called aniridia. He has no iris in either eye. His vision in his right eye is 6/60 and in his left eye is 6/48; meaning he can see at 6 meters what people see at 60 or 48 meters. He is sensitive to light and glare. He has some cataracts in both eyes and have bilateral severe vision impairment. His vision cannot be helped by glasses or any other optical device. This has not stopped him trying and now falling in love with being a futsal gk and with Dion’s hard work and determination at training he also keeps up with our top level keepers. Dion archived an incredible milestone last week playing a full game in the Men’s winter premier league making some amazing saves. He continues to inspire us all at keeper hq and we couldn’t be prouder of what he has achieved in such a short space of time is simply incredible.
