I’m not good enough? I’m going to fail? I’m not loveable? 🤔⁣

Most of us are completely unaware of what is going on behind the scenes and the damage our thinking is doing to us.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Why?⁣

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝟗𝟓% 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬. 🤯⁣⁣

Today I have one task for you - save this 👆🏽and remind yourself daily of the fact that not every thought you believe about yourself is true.⁣ ⁣
⁣⁣
To create change we have to become aware of our thought so that we can start to 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 them, even though you may truely believe them. The thoughts we have believed since we were young, the thoughts we have found proof of for the last 5,10, 20 years! The thoughts that were not good enough, we won’t be loved and that we are guaranteed to fail.⁣ ❤️⁣
⁣⁣
Once you get into the habit of observing your thoughts you will begin to see your patterns and your triggers of when your critical thoughts come up.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It is that right there that will enable you to create a change and break the habit of your negative self talk. 🙌🏽⁣⁣

This was my first step in breaking my perfectionism and it’s a game changer 💥⁣

Embracing the power of choice! ⁣

I’ll never forget sharing with my very first coach in 2017 that I was worried people were judging me because of how I looked.. it was a deep insecurity I’d kept to myself that was eating away at me and causing lots of anxiety and fuelling my comparison.

Back then I didn’t even know what perfectionism was, let alone that I struggled with it.

𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭. ”𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦; 𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮 𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵.”⁣

It was a massive game changer for me. 𝐒𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞. 𝐈 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐈 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭. ⁣

As perfectionists, people-pleasers, and high achievers, we often find ourselves grappling with situations beyond our control. But here’s the beautiful truth: 𝗪𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞. 💪✨⁣

If something isn’t aligning with your vision or values, empower yourself to take action and create change. Whether it’s a change of behaviour or a change on your thinking.

Doing this saved me so much time and energy and helped me develop self acceptance instead of feeling I wasn’t good enough. 💖💫

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬… 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 🧠⁣

Have you ever noticed your brain has a habit of working against you? 🤔⁣

You know that business you want to start, that job you want to leave, that habit you want to break? ⁣

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲.⁣

It scans for danger - which in the old days was an animal attacking us, but in the modern day it scans for:⁣

❌ Situations where you may be 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐝⁣
❌ Situations where you may 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥⁣
❌ Situations where you may 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟⁣
❌ Situations where you may 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 ⁣

Unfortunately, the brain has not evolved so sees equal threat in being attacked by a tiger and finishing that website . ⁣

As a result⁣

😩we self sabotage⁣
😩 feel stress & anxiety⁣
😩feel overwhelmed⁣
😩over think⁣
😩dwell on the what ifs⁣
😩procrastinate… ⁣

all ways the brain tries to protect us from danger and threat.⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐢𝐬, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝. 🍃 The first thing I work with my clients on, is developing awareness around their thinking and patterns so we can create a plan to break the patterns, make new neurological connections and start seeing different results. 🎉⁣

𝗪𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞? 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 2️⃣ 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬.. ⁣

1️⃣ Become aware of your negative thoughts⁣
2️⃣ Actively challenge and reframe them⁣

Now,I don’t know about you, but before I found coaching, I was never aware of how my thoughts were impacting my results. Actually, tbh, I wasn’t really even aware of my negative thoughts!! 😬⁣

Often, my subconscious thoughts were critical, which made me feel like 💩 about myself, and as a result, I didn’t have the confidence or self belief to take the action I needed to to get my results. ⁣

The problem? ⁣

I felt even worse about myself and continued to take little action. The vicious cycle continued and with it began eroding my self trust and self esteem ⁣ 😭

This cycle continued until he learnt how to manage my mindset. ⁣🧠

But how did I do that? ⁣(I’m glad you asked)

By following a simple 5️⃣ step framework that allowed me to break down my thoughts and confidently reframe them so that I could start taking action and gain momentum towards my goals. ⁣💖

The reason why reframing negative thoughts is so powerful in overcoming perfectionism is because it;⁣

🔥 Allows you control over your thinking ⁣
🔥Shift your perspective and your story⁣
🔥Helps you challenge your critic ⁣
🔥 Gives you permission to think differently about yourself (hello self belief) ⁣
🔥 Empowers you to get results ⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭..⁣

No one starts as the master, you have to start at the beginning. ✏️⁣

I remember starting piano lessons when I was 14. The teacher taught me the basic scales I’m the first lesson and just had me repeat those for 30 minutes. 𝐌𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝟐 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐨 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐨… 𝐈 𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐩!!⁣

To this day I remember thinking it was boring and I wanted to actually play something! What o didn’t realise is that if I had just continued with the lessons, I would have eventually been able to play as I had wanted to in my head that day.. but what do you know, 24 years later, I still don’t know how to play piano properly. 🙈⁣

It’s ok to be a learner and infact, it’s a necessary part of growth. So sit in the discomfort, sit in the boring, sit in the repetitive until you start to harness the skill. Because learning something new takes time and it absolutely worth the time it takes ❤️

Let me explain..⁣

As perfectionists we place extremely high expectations on ourselves - about how we need to look, act, feel & behave. 🏆⁣

It is this way of thinking and the constant need for control, that drains us and depletes our energy. 🪫⁣

The energy we spend ⁣
🤯comparing ourselves to others⁣
🤯not feeling good enough⁣
🤯 trying to be better⁣
🤯 hiding our emotions and ⁣
🤯suppressing our feelings.⁣

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 & 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡.⁣

When this is a constant state of being, it wears us down and eats our energy supplies. Over time leading to 𝘤𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘤 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘹𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘵. 🤕⁣

When we let go of all that pressure and expectation, we can step into a space of acceptance; of our imperfections and that who we are is enough. 💗⁣

𝗪𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞? 𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢s ⬇️⬇️⁣

One of the things I do with clients when we are creating goals for either their life or their businesses, is to ask two questions:⁣

1️⃣ What do I want to 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 when I’ve achieved this goal? ⁣
2️⃣ Who do I need to 𝐛𝐞 in order to achieve this?⁣

These make all the difference especially for perfectionist, because ⁣

1️⃣ we are no longer just focused on the 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞, we are focused on the 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 and that helps up feel proud of our 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬. ⁣

2️⃣ We can start closing the gap of who we need to be yo start achieving be goal… Maybe you need to be disciplined, consistent, calm, creative, persistent, determined.. whatever it is, 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬. 🎯⁣

The thing is this..⁣

Focus on one day at a time 🔥⁣

So many of us look at the massive mountain in front of us which can often lead to 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦 and 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭.. and that can be enough for us to abandon the goal or the dream. ❌⁣

Instead, just focus on 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 up the mountain.. ⛰️ even if you fall down or stuff up, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐨𝐤 and 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲. The game is in being able to get up and try again. This time with the knowlegde of what didn’t work out last time.⁣

I would say without a doubt one of my own super powers is 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. No matter what is happening 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐲 and I credit that to having a 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 but also breaking it down into 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 so I don’t overwhelm myself.⁣

So whether it’s a personal goal, a business idea, parenting journey, everything is manageable if you just focus on one day at a time.
