Bower Bikes teamed up with Bayside Council on Clean Up Australia Day, to keep both our streets and our bikes running smoothly.
We ran a free check & tune to help locals get their bikes road‑ready, safe, and feeling good — because a well‑loved bike is more likely to be ridden, not dumped
Huge shout‑out to our superstar mechanics Oli and Billy, who spent the day adjusting gears, fixing brakes, answering questions, and spreading bike love like pros.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by, got their bike checked, and helped make sustainable transport easier (and more fun). This is what community-powered repair looks like.

We made a very weird bike for the Omafiets Weird Bike Ride. Built from spare parts, bad ideas, and pure curiosity, it was awkward, impractical, and absolutely perfect. We’ve got plenty more weird ideas for the next .

We’re wrapping up for 2025, which means this is your final chance to pick up a refurbished ride before we close for the break! If you’ve been eyeing off a bike… now’s the moment!
A huge thank you to everyone who supported Bower Bikes this year — whether you bought a bike, came to a workshop, donated a frame, or just swung by for a chat. You’ve kept our wheels turning and our workshop buzzing.
We’re taking a well‑earned breather and will be back on 7 January, refreshed and ready for another year of repair, reuse, and rolling good times.
Until then: stay safe, stay sunny, and keep those wheels spinning! 🌞🚴‍♀️💥

Here a lil story from one of our customers. Thanks .rk for sharing this with us.
We hope all your bike dreams come true 🙏
"Hi Bower Bikes,
Thanks for the message on Instagram. Apology for my slow response, and finally, I got a chance to write you my story.Â
I am Raka Pamungkas (he/him), an international student at the University of Sydney to pursue my PhD.Â
Here is my story with Bower Bikes:Â
Earlier this year, I moved from Surry Hills to the Inner West of Sydney because I love the vibes in this area. Since beginning my doctoral program last year, I had long dreamed of cycling to and from the University of Sydney. That dream came true when a friend told me about Bower Bikes in Summer Hill.
In early September, I visited Bower Bikes, and a very kind staff member patiently answered all my questions as a complete beginner in the cycling world. I decided to purchase a second-hand red bike for AUD 120. It's the perfect price for a student! Since I was just starting cycling, I made it a routine to ride daily to Burwood Station, park my bike, and then take the train to university.
Unfortunately, on the afternoon of 24 September, when I returned from university, I discovered that both wheels of my bike had been stolen. I was shocked. As an international student, all I could do was take photos and report the incident at Burwood Police Station.
Afterwards, I brought the bike frame by train to Bower Bikes, intending to donate it and buy another bike. To my surprise, I met Greg, who kindly offered to look for spare wheels and tyres that might still be available at Bower Bikes. Honestly, I didn’t expect much. I thought, it is what it is. I had been careless, assuming Sydney was super safe, and had only locked the frame; not the wheels. But petty crime can happen anywhere, and Sydney is still a big metropolitan city.
Amazingly, just three days later, Greg called to say the bike had been fixed and was ready to collect. I was very happy. I went back to Bower Bikes and paid only AUD 40. Greg even gave me another lock and taught me how to properly secure both wheels.
I can’t be thankful enough.
Thank you, Bower Bikes!"
