In 2015, I walked through the doors of the temple that is Sridevi Nrithyalaya , never imagining the profound impact it would have on my journey as a dancer, teacher, and artist.

Over the years, SSD has had the privilege of learning many beautiful choreographies of Dr Sheela Unnikrishnan that have inspired and shaped not only me, but generations of our students. Every piece has carried with it artistry, discipline, and a philosophy that continues to influence our school.

This week, that journey comes full circle as we welcome Sridevi Nrithyalaya into our own home in Sydney. It is a moment of immense gratitude, pride, and joy. 🧿🧿🧿

Shivam School of Dance is proud to present an exclusive Bharatanatyam Intensive with Dr. Sheela Unnikrishnan, Founder and Director of Sridevi Nrithyalaya.

Designed for intermediate and advanced Bharatanatyam dancers, this workshop offers the rare opportunity to learn a Murugan Keerthanam passed down to Dr. Sheela by her guru, Bharatanatyam Dance Master Railway M. Sundaram, and preserved in her childhood dance theory notes. This is a unique and rarely taught composition.
