Hi, my name is Jodi myself along with my best friends sisters are raising money for our dear Claudio, Lisa and their young kids!
Just a couple of weeks ago Claudio was struggling with unbearable pain from an inguinal hernia which resulted in a bowel blockage after presenting at hospital he was told he would need emergency surgery to repair the hernia which was now life threatening! In the lead up to this surgery Claudio was taken for a CT scan to check the hernia and prepare for surgery during this CT scan they spotted a mass in Claudio’s right lung which was compromising major blood vessels to his heart the focus was still on the hernia as due to the bowel blockage this was urgent and needed to be repaired immediately but his heart was behaving abnormally due to the mass. After a long couple of painful days for Claudio they decided he was fine to go into surgery. Lisa came home when he went in and called me a couple of hours later to tell me all had went well with the surgery. His hernia was repaired and his bowel was completely saved.
This was short lived. 5 minutes later while removing tubes from his throat from surgery Claudio went into cardiac arrest and needed defibrillation to be brought back. They decided to sedate him as his respiratory distress and heart were complicating things due to the mass!
While under sedation Claudio was taken for a biopsy to determine the nature of this mass and that night while awaiting results he took a turn for the worse and Lisa was called to come to him immediately! In the middle of the night he was rushed to have intense radiation to attack this mass and give his heart some relief as at this point they weren’t very hopeful and said this was the only hope he had they also stated they would not resuscitate him should he go into cardiac arrest again. After the radiation he was stabilised and Lisa was sent home to rest. When arriving at the hospital she was asked to come for a meeting with the Dr’s who informed her that Claudio had an extremely aggressive cancer and that he couldn’t be treated or saved.
A miracle happened and Claudio responded so well to the radiation it shrunk the cancer and after 9 sessions he was sent home with his family where he belongs and now he will have a meeting with oncology next week and hopefully start chemo as soon as possible. This unexpected diagnosis has rocked everyone’s world especially Claudio and Lisa he is now unable to work at all and Lisa has had to stop working to take care of him full time. Lisa’s car has also just blown up and she needs to be able to get Claudio to and from many appointments as well as get the children to and from school.
The lease is also up on their current home and unfortunately doctors have advised they move out of there due to mould as this would be a big issue for Claudio’s lungs and breathing. We are trying to raise money to help this young family with bills, life and to move into a more suitable rental property without mould and stairs. With Claudio’s future unknown everyone’s help would mean the world to this family.
