Learning to slow down.
In our kids classes at SJJA Cronulla, we sometimes take a moment to sit, breathe, close our eyes, and reset. It’s a simple way to introduce meditation and mindfulness to the kids.
Learning how to slow down, focus on their breathing, and be present can be a powerful skill for early childhood. It helps build concentration, emotional control, and confidence both on and off the mats.
It’s a small habit, but one that can make a big difference as they grow.

Attention to detail.
One of the best parts of training is slowing things down and watching the details of a technique being demonstrated. These moments help students understand not just what to do, but why it works.
You can always feel the focus in the room when everyone gathers around to learn something new.
Step by step, rep by rep, that’s how progress happens at SJJA Cronulla.

Kids classes are not just about techniques. They are also about teamwork, listening, and supporting each other while they learn.
Watching the kids line up, pay attention, and then try the movements together shows how much they grow every week.
Plenty of smiles, plenty of effort, and lots of progress happening on the mats.

The small moments matter.
A big part of kids jiu-jitsu is the connection between coaches and students. A quick bit of encouragement, a high five, or a few words of guidance can make a huge difference to a child’s confidence on the mats.
Seeing these moments during class is always a reminder of how important a positive training environment is.
That’s what makes the community at SJJA Cronulla so special.
