As Victorian Hound Hunters Inc. continues to grow, so does our voice, our respect in the industry, and our pride in representing this community. We are actively shifting the narrative around hound hunting through professionalism and dedication.

However, all of this hard work can come crashing down—and crashing down fast.

As a volunteer organisation led by a dedicated committee, we will fight tooth and nail for hound hunting now and into the future. But let’s be crystal clear about what we will not stand for: a blatant disregard for laws and regulations.

Every single incident reported and every fine handed out doesn't just reflect on an individual or a single crew—it impacts the entire hound hunting community. Protecting the future of our sport is everyone's responsibility.

We know things happen. We understand that hounds don’t know boundaries—but you do.

We will fight tooth and nail for our members who do the right thing. What we will not do is protect people doing the wrong thing, member or not.

Respect the game. Respect the law. Protect the future of our chosen sport.

This week, VHH was awarded Facebook’s Emerging Talent badge, recognition for content that’s sparking real engagement and interest.

But here’s what the badge really means: our voice is growing. Every share, comment, and follow amplifies the message of responsible hound hunting across Victoria.

Thank you to every member, and supporter who backs our socials and our organisation. Big things happen when you are heard, and at the VHH, we move mountains, not molehills.

The Outdoor Recreation Bill has passed!

Outdoor Recreation Victoria becomes 'Fishing, Hunting and Outdoor Recreation Victoria' (FHOV). While it won’t exist as a discrete ministerial portfolio, it will exist as an organisation, and that distinction matters.
The push to have hunting actively promoted, not just regulated, was something Victorian Hound Hunters Inc. campaigned for strongly, and we’re proud to see it now embedded in the new body’s remit. This is a genuine step forward for hunting in Victoria, and it didn’t happen by accident. The GMA could never promote hunting. FHOV can.
A shout out to Jeff Bourman and the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party for their persistence in driving this through Parliament. Jeff has been a tireless advocate for hunters and outdoor recreation across the state, and a genuine supporter of VHH, always willing to listen, back our members, and stand up for hound hunting when it counts. This result is a credit to that work.
We also want to acknowledge the collaboration of hunting organisations right across Victoria. When our community works together, sharing information, backing each other’s advocacy, and presenting a united voice to government, we get outcomes. VHH is proud to have played its part alongside them.

There’s more work ahead, but today is a win worth celebrating. 🐕🦌

Great to See the New Breeds Coming Through!

It’s fantastic to see photos filtering through of the newly accepted Blueticks and Black & Tan Coonhounds out in the field across Victoria!

Even better is hearing the positive feedback from hunters on how these hounds are performing. Like any young pups coming into the pack, it doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time, patience, and dedicated training for them to mature, build experience, and truly learn the craft.

We’re excited to watch their progress as more of these lines develop and establish themselves in Victorian hound hunting scene.

Rest easy, Steven Young. 🕊️

Sad news has reached us — Steven John Young, known to many in the hunting and outdoors community, passed away at home in Jamieson on 18 July, aged 44.

Loving father to Tegan, Zoey, Millie, Corey and Luke. Brother to Debbie and Maree, uncle to Kade and Brodie, and a good mate to many across our community.

Forever Young, and now looking down on the hills he loved. Our thoughts are with his family and everyone who knew him at this difficult time. 💚🖤

Rest in peace, mate. Gone but never forgotten.
