It is only days away until Tarana plays Hampton. We are very grateful to the financial support given to the game by Mumma Snow Cafe. Players are reminded that they need to be at the ground early, anywhere between 10 and 11 am for a preemptive practice session.

The only thing hotter than the sun on Saturday was the O’Connell Cricket team. They surpassed Tarana score of 121 with 4 overs to spare. A credit goes to Bruce Marmion, the coach/ manager for organising a side that played top class cricket. Every one present saw some very spectacular sixes hit, including Rob Webb who lobed the ball into the picnic shelter heading straight to poor old Mario. Another impressive batting performance was from Dan Rogers, he hit the first 4 balls for 3 fours and one six. There were also solid performances from Chris Vanderberg, Connor Gennari, Blair Webb and Charlie Sinner.
This Sunday is the match between Tarana and Hampton. Luckily we will have Bruce Webb back in the side the return of Mark Booth

The word only arrived yesterday that the Hon. Mr Paul Toole, Member of the Legislative Assembly
Member for Bathurst and the Deputy Premier will be here, in Tarana, this Saturday for the annual Tarana and O”Connell BIG BASH. The Tarana Cricket Club are deeply honoured to have the Hon. Mr Paul Toole toss the coin. We acknowledge his significance contribution in the resurgences of cricket in the Tarana Valley. Another equally important dignity present will be the Mayor, Maree Statham, who works tirelessly for our community. One should be reminded that Paul and Maree's family’s have been in the Tarana area since the time Moses played fullback for the Oberon Tigers. Believe me, that is a long time. Also along with these important dignities is the Tarana Valley Community Group, who were also responsible in transforming the ground from a waste land into a incredible beauty recreation ground, second to none.
On a more sober note, the spate of hot and weather will continue through the weekend. We ask all people to slip slop and slap because the oval is a bit light on for shade. We are desperately ringing around , in an attempt to get as many gazebos around the ground. Drinking water will be available and medical assistance will be available particularly for you whipper snappers that could suffer from too much sun and not enough shade.

Important update on the forthcoming cricket series. I need to mention two very important sponsors of the cricket series, they are JAMES WALTON, Bowyers and Livermore from Oberon and Ridgeline Premium Beef Sausages from O’Connell.
Congratulations are in order for our esteemed Treasurer Chris Van Den Berg. He has, after very adroit negotiations with Cricket Australia, managed to secure the recognition of our club, as a bona Fide team under the auspice of Cricket Australia. This took someachievement, as our playing rules are unique and we do not play in a regular district completion. It is the first time this century that Tarana has its own official cricket Club

It may well be the end of daylight saving coming this Sunday but the Tarana Cricket Club’s “Summer of 22” programme is still ongoing. On Saturday 9 April is the mixed game between Tarana and O’Connell. This is the first time in the history of Tarana for such a game to happen at the recreation ground. Game sign on is midday with a one o’clock kick off. If you are interested in playing, drop us a line at [email protected] so we know you are looking at playing.
