🚴 RACE READY: GET YOUR BIKE TO THE START LINE IN TIP-TOP CONDITION!
You’ve put in the hard work and completed the training. Now make sure your bike is ready to perform, too!
Follow these tips to arrive at the start line with confidence:
1️⃣ BOOK YOUR BIKE IN EARLY 🔧
Take your bike to your preferred bike shop about two weeks before the event. This allows time for a thorough inspection and any required parts to be sourced.
2️⃣ GIVE YOUR MECHANIC THE FULL PICTURE
Share your recent riding, training and service history so your technician can identify wear and potential issues. Let them discuss the service plan with you so you understand@and ask questions if required.
3️⃣ TEST RIDE AFTER SERVICING 🚴♂️
Check the gears, brakes and overall feel. Fix any concerns now—not on race day!
4️⃣ TRANSPORT YOUR BIKE SAFELY 🚗✈️
Secure your bike properly in your vehicle or on a rack. Travelling further? Use a bike bag or case, and arrange professional packing from your bike shop if needed.
5️⃣ CHECK YOUR BIKE AFTER TRAVEL
Inspect the frame, wheels and components for damage as soon as you collect it at oversize luggage point. If you’re assembling it yourself, use the correct tools and follow torque specifications.
6️⃣ TEST RIDE BEFORE RACE DAY
Check the gears, brakes, wheels and tyres. If anything feels wrong, contact a local bike shop straight away, they will be busy.
NO BIKE, NO RACE!
7️⃣ RIDE PART OF THE COURSE 🌧️
If possible, experience the terrain and conditions before race day. Clean and check your bike after riding in wet or muddy conditions. Remember to re-lubricant your chain.
8️⃣ PREPARE FOR RACE DAY 🏁
Check your tyre pressures and carry the right spares and repair equipment for the course.
9️⃣ LINE UP WITH CONFIDENCE 💪
You’ve done the training and prepared your bike. Now focus on enjoying the experience and giving it your best!
Ride hard, race smart and enjoy every moment. You’ve earned it!
Lastly - Got a mechanic / chauffeur / team manager - use them, they are there to help and make life easy for you. They do like chocolate in exchange 😉
