♟️ The OLSS Chess Club joined fellow young chess players from across the Central Coast for a brilliant day of strategy, connection and friendly competition.
Hosted by , the tournament brought together students from OLR Wyoming, OLR Shelly Beach, Our Lady Star of the Sea Terrigal and other schools from the region.
Facilitated by Neil from the Sydney Academy of Chess, more than 60 students competed in a Swiss-style tournament, demonstrating incredible focus, strategic thinking and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Our Catholic schools achieved some outstanding results, led by Lennox from OLR Shelly Beach, who finished the tournament undefeated and was crowned the overall winner.
Richi from OLR Wyoming secured an impressive second place, followed by our very own Adam and Charlie from Our Lady Star of the Sea Terrigal in fourth and fifth place, with Soren from OLR Wyoming also achieving a fantastic seventh-place finish among more than 60 competitors.
Congratulations also to OLR Shelly Beach, who took out the award for Top School.
We are incredibly proud of all of our students and the way they represented their schools and our wider Catholic school community.
Days like today highlight the strength of our Central Coast Catholic schools and the opportunities created when our communities connect, collaborate and celebrate one another’s success.

Last Monday, our Kindergarten students celebrated an incredible milestone, 100 Days of Big School!
OLSS was swarmed by the cutest little grandmas, grandpas and 100-year-olds, with students dressing up to mark just how much they have grown over their first 100 days of school.
From making new friends and learning to read and write, to building confidence, resilience and independence, it has been amazing to watch our youngest learners grow.
We are so proud of everything they have accomplished and cannot wait to see what the next 100 days will bring.💙

At the end of last term, staff from across our Central Coast Precinct’s gathered at St Peter's Catholic College for a Staff Development Day, where one very special member of our OLSS community was recognised.
We are so proud to celebrate Michelle Bell, who was announced as one of the Winners of the Best Support Role Award across our entire Diocese.
This recognition reflects the countless hours, unwavering dedication and endless energy Michelle pours into supporting our students, staff and school community each and every day.
Michelle's kindness, generosity and commitment help make Our Lady Star of the Sea the special place it is. Whether she is quietly working behind the scenes or lending a helping hand at Kiss and Drop of a morning, Michelle always goes above and beyond for our community.
We are incredibly blessed to have Michelle as part of the OLSS family and could not be prouder of this well-deserved achievement.

Great writing doesn't begin with perfect spelling or neat handwriting.
It begins with imagination. 💫
Last term, our Year 1 students celebrated Fairytale Day as part of their Creative Writing unit, using favourite storybook characters to inspire their own ideas.
Dressing up was the fun part. The real learning happened as students explored characters, built story ideas and discovered that writing can be something to look forward to.
When children are engaged, they're far more willing to take risks, use their imagination and find confidence in their own voice. It's one of the many ways our teachers help develop capable, enthusiastic writers from the very beginning.🤍
