💜Honouring Marilyn Turner

Our club was deeply saddened by the recent passing of Marilyn Turner, a past North Entrance Board Member and Club Treasurer who gave so much of her time, heart and dedication to NESLSC.

We were honoured to offer our function space for Marilyn’s memorial, where close to 200 people gathered to celebrate her life, a beautiful tribute to the woman she was. Marilyn’s daughter Karen shared her gratitude with the Board, and her words reflected just how loved and respected Marilyn was within our community 💜🤍🕊️

To the board at Nth Enny Surf Club,
I'd just like to pass on my gratitude to north entrance slsc for acknowledging the 10 plus years of service my beloved mother did for the club. Her years as a Nan watching the kids come through the nippers to volunteer life savers whilst volunteering as treasurer for all those 10 plus years keeping her book keeping skills alive and learning computer skills with the times, she absolutely reveled in it. Everyone calling in at her home in Manly parade dropping money in having a chat and a cuppa, she absolutely thrived on and enjoyed immensely. Once again thank you for contributing with the hall and the communication from Bronny in the lead up was A1. Her celebration of life was an absolute tribute to an amazing woman, an unsung hero of the club and it truly was a wonderful day. May she rest in paradise, paradise beyond north entrance. Thank you 😊

Today our women’s masters surf boat crew had an awesome chance to train with the talented crews from Redhead SLSC at Swansea Channel. A beautiful change from the still waters of Tuggerah Lakes and an inspiring session learning from experienced rowers and sweeps.

It is with great sadness that North Entrance Surf Life Saving Club acknowledges the passing of Marilyn Turner, a valued member of our Club community and former Club Treasurer.

Marilyn gave generously of her time and was a dedicated volunteer who made a lasting contribution to our Club. She will be remembered not only for her commitment and service but also as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On behalf of everyone at North Entrance SLSC, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Marilyn's family, friends, and all who knew her during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with you all.

As part of a Surf Life Saving NSW- led initiative, North Entrance SLSC now has a 24/7 accessible Emergency Shark Bite Trauma Kit installed at the club. This kit provides immediate first aid equipment for shark bite incidents and major trauma, giving the community the ability to begin critical care while emergency services are on their way - especially outside patrol hours

Our club also has a 24/7 public access defibrillator, located directly on the First Aid Room door. In a cardiac emergency, early defibrillation is one of the most important factors in survival. Each minute without defibrillation reduces the chance of a successful outcome, which is why having a publicly accessible unit available at all times is vital for our community

Both the trauma kit and defibrillator are positioned near the First Aid Room and monitored by CCTV for visibility and security

In an emergency:
• Ensure the area is safe before assisting
• Check for danger to yourself and others
• Call Triple Zero (000) immediately
• Alert people nearby and send for help
• Only enter the water with a flotation device
• Never put your own life at risk
