We're delighted to announce the return of Rob Askew as Head Coach of our QPLW1 Women's Opens and U23s for 2027.

Rob holds an FFA A licence and is a TGFC life member. He was instrumental in establishing the women's football program at TGFC in the mid-1990s which quickly became the most successful club-based women's football program in Queensland, winning multiple Premier League titles and grand finals including numerous titles and finals in the NPLW. He then very successfully coached at Lions FC, again winning multiple NPLW titles and finals.

Rob has over many years developed players into State, Junior Matildas and Matildas team members. He is deeply committed to development pathways for young players. We are looking forward to our current and emerging players having the opportunity to work with him.

Rob's qualifications, experience and dedication to the highest standards match our goal for promotion back to the NPLW.

Commenting on his return Rob stated:
"I'm really excited to be back where it all began. As a life member and a founder of women's football at The Gap, I have a really strong love of and connection to this club.
We have achieved great things in the past here in women's football and I'm excited at the prospect of writing the next chapter in the successful history of this club in the female game."

Four years is a long time in football. From a post relegation start in FQPL2, rebuilding a squad to promotion and a fantastic 3rd-place finish in our return to FQPL1.

He assisted to strengthen the connection between our Academy and senior program, created opportunities for young players, introduced players from overseas to The Gap FC, and helped build a womenโ€™s program that people were proud to be part of.

We also acknowledge and thank Andy Milner, who has been alongside Jamie as assistant coach throughout this journey. The contribution of you both to our senior womenโ€™s program has been greatly valued.

Jamie, thank you for your passion, commitment and the many hours you have given to The Gap over the past four years.

We wish you all the best for whatever comes next.

The final game of the U13 Academy season against Moreton City ended in a nail biting 4โ€“3 loss, but the boys left absolutely everything on that field. ๐Ÿคฏ

These photos say so much about them as a team - brave, determined, fearless and always willing to put their bodies on the line for the team.

The result might not have gone our way, but what a way to finish the season. So proud of you boys. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’œ
